  • So what do you want ME to do about it?

bg - My company sends out what we call Direct Sales Reps to canvas an area and offer greatly discounted services to new customers, and offer to upgrade exsisting customers into so pretty nifty rates too. /end bg

    The cast!
    CPN - Crazy paranoia lady
Me - Your rum loving taker of abuse

The line rings, I give my spiel, and the insanity begins

CPN - Someone came to my house and he said he was from your company! I WANT HIS NAME!!
Me - Okay, we have door to door reps out in the field in your area, let's get some more info and I can make a report, get some info for you, ma'am. I see that this is Lady Who Needs to Take Her Meds?
CPN - Yes, that's me. HE DIDN'T IDENTIFY HIMSELF PROPERLY!!!. And I couldn't see his ID properly and I called the police on him so if he's still in the neighborhood he's getting arrested!!!
Me - Okay, so he identified himself as being with us, but he refused to show you ID? Okay, I don't blame you for calling the police, that sounds a bit sketchy
Quick side note: There's been multiple home invasions over this past year involving the men claiming to be from a utility company to gain access, it's was usually done against the elderly or women who were home alone. So aside from the growin manic-ness of the caller, this is a pretty reasonable reaction
CPN - That's right! Now fix it!
Me - Okay, what do you need me to fix, ma'am?
CPN - LISTEN TO ME!! Are you stupid!?
Me - Ma'am, I'm confused now, are you in immediate danger? Is someone trying to break in to your home?
CPN - GODDAMNIT you are stupid! His ID looked fake to me! What the hell kind of people are you sending around!?!? I told the last guy now 3 months ago and someone else is out here NOW!! FIX IT!!!!
Me - I thought you said that he refused to show you ID. Was the rep rude to you, did he try to gain entry to your home?
CPN - I told you, I told him no and he went away!! YOU'RE USELESS! AAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
*CLICK* as she hangs up the line
Me - What the HELL was that all about?
CW who overheard the whole call- A lot of crazy?

Apparently you're suppose to KNOW just who it was without any other description than "I couldn't see his ID".

Because... if he's a person posing as your employee you're suppose to know who is is ...

Next they'll want you to take all the mirrors off the walls to prove there's no one hiding behind them.

... and don't you dare skip the ones on doors! ...

This reminds me of something that happened to one of our sales reps this week. A customer emailed him (important) asking about an upgrade of his servcies. The rep emailed back and said he'd be happy to let him know all about the upgrades and discounts he qualifies for, and asked for the customer's name and address (you know, to actually LOOK up his account).

Customer emails him back saying if he really was a rep from **our company** he'd know all that information already, that he wouldn't be scammed, and wanted him to know he'd already contacted the city police and **our company** corporate to report him.

WTF did she want you to do to 'fix it'? Go out there in person and find this guy? I think I probably would have told her, ma'am, if the cops are on their way, they will "fix it", good-bye.

So the person came to her door, showed her his id, she said no and he went away and she's calling to report it like this was Jack the Ripper and Jeffery Dahlmer's love child?

The crazy is strong with this one.

My first thought as well. Wow. Just think of all the scams that could be stymied if this logic chain were correct. You could call the Nigerian Embassy and stop all those emails from millionaires for a start.
