This happened a long, long time ago, back when I dealt with customers. Now I'm inward facing so I hardly ever get to talk to them.
But here's what happened...
Basically, my company has these super dooper awesome sign up promos. Some of them require contracts but some don't. The ones that don't are usually, like, 3 month discounts on all services. So if a customer wants to they can take advantage of our promo offer, leave us for another provider and hose them for their promo, go to ANOTHER provider and hose THEM, then come back again to us. As long as the proper time frame has elapsed, there is nothing we can do about this. We just grin, bear it, and comfort ourselves with the thought that most people don't do this.
But some customers take it too far. This guy told me flat out when he signed up that he was only going to be keeping our service for two months before moving to Israel. Okay... awesome. Whatever. Then he wanted it put in in two days.
Unfortunately, at that time our systems WOULD NOT allow a two day time lapse. The order just wouldn't reach the techs in time. It had to be three days. Well, when I told that to him it was like I'd killed his kitten! It had to be two days! It had to be! Then things got REALLY obnoxious.
Him: You tell your bosses they lost a sale!
Me: ...Okay! *thinking: Dick*
Him: You make sure to tell them that! Repeat it!
Me: Uh, yes sir, I'll tell them that.... *when hell freezes over*
Him: *click*
Sure, I'll tell them we missed your two months at half-price. Balls, man, don't you realize that TWO MONTHS at tha price wouldn't even pay for our installers time? They're fairly highly paid you know. I was never so glad to have a customer hang up on me...
