  • Beat the Prices down?

So...the IRS has had a glitch in their system and tax returns nationwide that were filed before Jan 26th have delays.
Been dealing with a ton of SCs flack and blaming us. Ok to be expected.

One couple came to get their check. The wife was driving hubby hopped out, showed his ID, we asked his SS# to double check he was who he said he was. He leaves. They start to pull away, we see the car quickly switch directions Brakes slammed so the car rocked and the wife flies out of the car and come in.

"WHAT THE $#%^ is all this money out of my refund....WHY Did you take my money.
I said ok lets go to my desk I will pull your file and we will look. I show her the print out we made, and had her sign next to the price. She tried to tell me I switched the fees. I asked her if that was her signature and her husband's which she agreed it was. I told her that she signed therefore she agreed.
She grabs a clipboard off the desk and starts BEATING ME with it!

I slip away from the smashing woman and tell the co worker to call the cops.
She schreeched that she is never coming back. I replied simply. Actually ma'am you are not welcome here. She slammed out before the police got there.
We told them what happened and since she left they didn't do a report

Screw that! If the company wouldn't file a report of assault, then I sure as hell would! It's not like you didn't have her info anyway. Besides, what makes your employers so convinced she won't come back for more?

THe police didn't want to do the report. My manager was all for a report being made.

You don't need the police report. Contact the DA and file charges. It is not the police's decision to make.

ETA: At a minimum, you should get some form of restraining order or something that would make it clearly a criminal offence if they enter the business again.

Any video of the incident? For assault, I don't think the cops have a CHOICE if the victim insists on filing a report. I'd call the station, find out who the commanding officer was, and a- insist on filing assault charges on that woman and b- file a formal complaint against the officer who refused to make the report. That's just intolerable.

I would at least have her formally trespassed from the business at a minimum. You should be able to press assault charges if you still want to.

This happens a lot more than it should.

They may not want to do it, but that's not their call. If you want to file a report, then they have to let you file a report.

Holy shit, the police didn't "want" to file a police report? What city do you live in (so I know where I can go to rob and mug people without fear of the po-po)?

Then you call and request for the supervisor on duty and demand that a report be taken. Sorry, but assault is assault is assault.

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

The brain cells that said, "hmm, they have my husbands address and information, so I'd better not do anything stupid" just died instantly...

...and the remaining brain cells took over and said, "let's punish this woman no matter what the circumstances."

Joining the chorus insisting that you press charges against Assaulty Woman, and also report/file a complaint about No Reporty Cop. This world isn't going to get any better unless people like that are taught a lesson. We can't change the world, but we can help to clean it up, one lesson at a time.
Now, I'd like to digress from my prepared remarks to discuss how I invented the terlet...

                          This happens all over.

One of my now-former co-workers stole a blank check from the office one day and gave it to a friend who then attempted to cash it. The bank, sensing that it wasn't legit, shut her down, and Bosslady reported the attempted fraud to the cops. They didn't want to pursue it, trying to claim that since she didn't get any money, no crime had been committed (bullshit). Bosslady was having none of that and let them know that she wasn't going to let them drop it, and a couple of months later, the culprit was actually caught.

Today we did file a report.

I am thinking maybe flag her for an audit? or is that too mean?
