  • Food send-back for no reason...

Today this group of women come in and one of them ordered a pizza, it came out as she ordered it and it actually looked pretty good.

I was waiting on another table and she told my co-worker that she didn't like it. I went over to the table to address the issue, and found that she hadn't even eaten any of it or removed a slice from the pie yet. I told her that we would happily re-do her pizza for her or prepare something else, but also asked her how she knew she didn't like it considering she hadn't even tried it.

She ended up sending it back without trying it-seriously! The other people in her party seemed kind of embarrassed. Sometimes working in a restaurant drives me insane...

Sounds like they were dining with my mother, she pulls horrible stuff like that all the time.

SC: "I'm not having that. I don't want it."
Poor Customer Rep: "Sorry about that. What's wrong with it, you haven't tried any yet"
SC: "It's got cheese and tomato sauce on it."
        PCR: "Ummmm, it's a pizza?"
SC: "I bet that base is made of dough too."
        PCR: "Whafu*k?"
SC: "Get me a pizza without any of those things."
PCR runs around, pulling hair out and saying "flub flub flub" whilst pulling their bottom lip.

What is wrong with people?! I've lost what little faith in humanity I ever had. How can she be ok with wasting an entire pizza on a whim! I just imagine her as one of those types of woman who goes out on her lunch break with her co-workers from the bank and makes them all late because she is a selfish, entitled twat and always finds something wrong with her food and always has to make sure that at least one entree goes in the trash. Then she probably goes back to her job at the bank and annoys everyone by wearing too much perfume and clipping her nails at her desk.

It must be some sort of power trip, especially if the SC is in a group. "These poor slobs who wait on me, they can't even make my food properly!" Maybe the toppings weren't arranged just so to her liking or something.

Huh... that's the opposite of the usual "lousy food SC", which waits to complain until they've eaten the whole meal!

Ooooo, I'd be so tempted to arrange the olives into a middle finger or something on her 2nd pizza...

oh maaaaann..... i totally woulda ate that pizza right in front of her!!! I would have happily picked it up said "sorry the pizza wasn't to your liking" and bitten a slice as I was carrying it away stating "OMG this pizza is sooooooo good!" haha think i would have also been tempted to tell her that we used the last bit of ingredients making this pizza so she'd have to wait a bit longer for the 2nd one

That sux people are such snobbish assholes and so wasteful.... I know 4 people bout a mile down the road that huddle around the goodwill that woulda loved that damn pizza!! Like I said, if i was there I woulda ate it for her, right in front of her!!!!

I suppose you could've offered her some antipasto, but I wouldn't waste good food on that hag.

So, something is wrong with it, something she can identify by sight, she wants it redone, but will not tell you what was wrong in the first place?

Ok, I couldn't work your job. Nothing in this universe would be able to stop me from saying (politely, but still....) "Madam, I can have them make another one. But it will be identical to this one unless you tell us what you don't like about it so we can do it differently - our resident ESP person is off today, so you'll have to communicate by archaic means such as talking".

She said it "didn't look right" and she didn't like it. It looked like a regular pizza with the toppings she ordered...nothing unusual about the size/shape/color/doneness. I mean...it's a pizza, what more can I say.

She ate some chicken soup and I think the other people in her party were embarrassed that she complained about it since there was obviously nothing wrong with it. She did end up apologizing to me and said she was in a snappy mood that day, but come on...it's a PIZZA.
