  • Skill in Amazon CS has increased to 255, level up!

Background: Shipped out a near-new DVD the other day. Checked it before I mailed it, disc was near pristine, and it played perfectly when I tried it.

    Email from attempting frauder:

Before I even watched the movie, I saw that it was scratched. I decided to give try to watch it anyway and it wouldn't play. If you had looked at the disc before you sent it out, it would have saved us both alot of trouble. I get so angry when I order a dvd from Amazon and it ends up turning into a piece of junk. It is a major waste of my time and it makes me angry when all you had to do was take a look at the dvd to see that it was junk. Please rectify this problem as soon as soon as you can. I am disabled so it is very difficult to get to the post office. Please do the decent thing and correct this problem.

BS meters on high, time to go into Defense Mode!

    Afternoon ma'am,

I actually did check the disc before shipping, cleaned it, and played it momentarily to check for any issues, as I do with all DVDs before shipping. I only have a small amount of my own DVDs that i've personally listed, so everything gets checked by me.

However though, if you're unhappy with it, just mail it back to me, and once I receive the DVD, I will happily give you a refund.

You can mail it back to: <redacted>

Also, if you have difficulty getting to the post office, I know how you feel. I don't know if you know about this, but they actually can come directly to your home and pick up your packages from you: <redacted link>

What're the odds you think I'll be hearing back from them? Especially as I know, and THEY know, that the disc was practically new when I shipped it out?

Because I'm the glass completely empty sort, I vote you'll hear back from them. They'll demand a refund while KEEPING the disc, because they don't want to pay to send it back.
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

Hey Seraph, do you take 'before shipping' pictures of everything? If not, it might be good to start doing so, so you can present it as evidence to Amazon of 'here's the condition of the object, it's packaging, its shipping method...' when these people inevitably try to scam you.

Amazon doesn't believe those, sadly. Or else I would.

Once I get more money, I should buy something from you on Amazon just so you can have a normal customer. I love your response to her. Hopefully it shuts her up.

If she does ship it back for a refund, it'll be because she already burned her own copy.

                No one here is normal.

                Sorry.

Should have added, 'with a police officer to witness me checking, packing and shipping it. You would not believe how many people will try to scam.'

Alas, she'll likely burn her own copy, and then scratch yours all to hell before mailing it back, since you are insisting on the merch before refunding.

I'm betting she'll demand the refund first and claim she needs the $$$ to buy postage.

Did she say HOW she was disabled? Because her disability could be "mentally retarded" by this story from her side. Amazing how many stupid people try to throw the "I'm disabled" explanation to get what they want. Most likely she watched the movie, but didn't find it as exciting as she thought it would, couldn't find a good reason on that basis to return it, and is now throwing some cock-and-bull story about how the disc is all scratched up, which she will intend to scratch before returning to prove that SHE was right. Fraud case closed!

I love people pulling the "I'm disabled" routine because I can play that card too, with paperwork to back me up... It's not a big deal, it's not obvious from looking at me, but it's all legal & documented which is more thanc an be said for many of those who use it as a catch-all for "I'm too lazy/entitled"!

It could also be that they bought the dvd from you to replace an old scratched one.

I suspect they're going to try to give your their old one and claim that is the one they bought from you.
