  • Today a Customer Kissed me...

While I may be a pharmacy counting monkey, this technically happened outside of the pharmacy, but please move this if necessary.

After my shift I was waiting for my boss, K's, fiance to show up with their puppy so I could see how she'd grown. So I did my shopping and was waiting by an empty register with K, chatting about work, when a customer of ours walked in. She is known as Crazy Lady (CL).

Now, everyone in the pharmacy knows this customer, and she has an obsession with me because I was nice enough to buy some of her products.

CL: HI!!! *mumble mumble mumble* Did you like the earrings?
Me: Yes, very much so! (The earrings she is asking me about are a pair she pulled out of her own ears because I said she looked good in them, naturally I was freaked out and only took them because she wouldn't leave a couple weeks ago... naturally that should have been the hint to disappear whenever she showed up, but apparently my brain just doesn't work like that)
K: *giving me a wtf look*
CL: We're going to San Francisco! *Mumbles a lot more and pulls K and I into a hug, kissing me on my cheek*
Me: *traumatized for life* Cool! *mentally begging K for help*
K: *trying desperately to get her to leave* Your prescription is ready, but we're closed for the night! You can get it tomorrow morning!
CL: Oh of course I'll *mumble mumble mumble* need my medication! *mumble mumble mumble* San Francisco!

Thankfully K's fiance N walks in at that point. Unfortunately, CL takes that chance to hug me again, much to my awkward non-confrontational dismay.

N: *carrying the puppy* [puppy] says Hi!
K: *conveniently places N in between her and CL, and tries to get him in between me and CL, but fails*
N: *slightly oblivious at this point* See how she's grown! Here, hold her! *passes me the puppy*
Me: *trying to enjoy the cute puppy while avoiding the awkward invasion of my space by CL* So cute! (while thinking "Take then hint and leave, take the hint and leave!)

CL of course uses the puppy to get into my space more and I quickly hand the puppy back to N and say my goodbyes fast. But CL takes this time to grab K's hand and my hand and kiss both of them. Naturally K, N and I leave, but CL follows. She had absolutely no purpose in our store except to speak to us about absolutely nothing.

I walked to my car and CL followed partway.

After I got home I checked my texts to find one from K that said she and N had watched closely to make sure I had gotten to my car safe because they were afraid CL would try and kidnap me.

I understand that I live in a strange town, but holy schnitzel, this took the cake!

If a SC won't kiss my ass, then I don't want them kissing me.
To right the countless wrongs of our days... We shine this light of true redemption, that this place may become as paradise...Oh, what a wonderful world such would be...

      Um, yikes. Personal space, kthx.

Did you tell your boss what happened?
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

Don't they have their own personal boundary lines? If a customer tried to kiss me, I'd probably turn and run! I don't like people popping my personal bubble of space!

If anyone breaks the three pint rule, they'll be running all night to the pisser and back.

I've found that when someone in seriously invading my personal space, me yelling " get the fuck away from me!" works just fine. I've only ever had to do it 2 times in my life but those 2 times those people weren't picking up my "fuck off" vibe.

You seem to be viewing this in a lighter manner, but that was sexual assault. Tell your boss, write up a report. Totally inappropriate.

Agreed with the above poster. Next time you see her, you need to tell her "leave me alone" "back off" "don't touch me" etc. and if she continues, then you need to get security or the police involved. What she's doing is completely inappropriate and she should not be allowed to continue.

My boss (the pharmacy manager) was standing next to me the whole time. I think we were both shocked and tired from a crazy busy day at work and paperwork wasn't at the top of our lists of what we wanted to do that night.

I didn't even consider calling the police, honestly. When she's come into the store since then, my coworkers hid me, and that's fine by me.

She's just a very special kind of crazy. We deal with a lot of people who get off their psych meds no matter how on top of it we are in calling them and their caregivers, and we just try to avoid them when we step outside of our fortress-like pharmacy.

Though if anything similar happens again, I will request that my boss transfer all of her medication to the other pharmacy in town.
