  • Its Been a Long, Long Week (EPIC, long, pics)

Actually, couple of them, just about.

    Thanks for the Backup, Paypal.

So of course, I sell premade website designs for a certain script, and recently, added a "rush order" option, which means it needs to be installed within 12 hours. Orders go through paypal, which usually provides a good buffer. USUALLY.

Rush order, got paid, installed, all was well, right?

Four days later I get a reversal from Paypal, and when we talk to the client, he pretty much lols at us. Turns out, bastige used a STOLEN CREDIT CARD, and everything got charged back, of course. Fought it for two weeks, but since I deal in digital goods/services, means I don't get seller protection as much as the ebay stuff I sell....so I ended up completely screwed over on that one. The thing that ticked me off the most was that I've been with them for seven years, and have an advantage account, you'd think they'd help me out on this one. :P NEWP.

Best part was they were like "You should always wait 2-3 days to "ship" an item to make sure the payment is good." Oh really now? That sounds like a MARVELOUS plan, let me go and purposely tick off my customers and say "Well, Paypal said I have to wait 2-3 days, sorry."

On a good note though, once word got out about what happened, a bunch of hackers got into his site and pretty much tore the thing APART. Turned out I wasn't the only one he scammed, and he upset a rather nasty group of people who basically turned his website into a pile o' ashes.

You Just Don't Get This, Do You? Pt. 1

Hi, I need a custom design, I can pay $40, does your script also come with <lots of features listed>?

Um, what? First off, I don't sell scripts, everyone knows that, its on my website as well, blah blah. Secondly, even if I did, you think $40 would cover 15+ hours of work AND a custom script?

Of course though, I replied, very nicely, that I don't sell scripts, and said he must be mistaken on my pricing, and gave him a list of my prices.

    This Isn't How Things Work

Seraph: Ok, can I just get an admin login so we can get this all installed?

SC: NO!! YOU ARE NOT GETTING IN TO MY WEBSITE YOU WILL STEAL EVERYTHING AND LOCK ME OUT!!! I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO DO THAT!

Seraph: .... Ok, so....how are we going to install this, then?

SC: Well, you don't need to log in to MY site to do that.

Seraph: ...Yeah, we kind of do.

    SC: ....

    Seraph: ....

Seraph: Honestly, if I was getting people's logins to just go and steal their information, do you think I would've been in business for seven years and come with such high recommendations? Don't you think that word would've gotten out?

    SC: <login information>

    Seraph: Thank you~ <3

You Just Don't Get This, Do You? Pt. 2

Thank you for the prices this is a bit high. all I have in my account is $55.07, would that work?

    Sorry, no, no it won't.

    Amazon Scammers AGAIN

Lady buys a stupid cheap DVD off my Amazon store, and due to the recent outbreak of scammers who try and pull the "this DVD is not in the listed condition!" , I have taken to checking each one individually as I pack it up, and I clean them, check the disc, and test it. This particular one is an older DVD, and I actually had a difficult time getting it off the hub to check the back. Its REALLY tight on there. (inb4 dalesys) I checked the disc, pristine, and managed to put it back on, and checked it one more time. Yep, that is NOT coming off, lol.

Of course though, she emails me back almost a week later, stating that it'd come loose during shipping, and had "massive gouging all over the disc, and is unplayable now".

    Right, right. Of course.

I send back a polite reply stating I'd checked the DVD beforehand, but that sometimes, strange occurrences do happen, and if she mailed it back, once I verified it was the same DVD, I'd be more than happy to give her a full refund.

She's quiet for a bit, then states that she wants me to send her money *now*, to cover the shipping she'll be paying. Oh, and if I decide to not send her the money, she'll leave a negative.

Ok, we're done here. I promptly reply "this is a common tactic of DVD scams, so honestly, go for it. I'm not paying you a red cent, you can get a full refund after I get the DVD back, and verify its the one I sent you."

She did leave a horrific negative after that, with this bs story about how I didn't describe the DVD right, how she's throwing it out now, and that I'm an obviously new seller with no idea how to function. Yes, lady, that's why I have such SPARKLING reviews from everyone else with 5 out of 5 stars and glowing replies about my super fast shipping and how OCD I am about my descriptions. (Well, everyone except the one guy who thought 'vid card only' meant MINT IN BOX)

I've filed a report with Amazon about it, but their reply was that they'll investigate, but probably not remove the feedback either way. /sigh Hope I don't lose my account again, over another stupid scammer to boot.

    You Keep Using That Word

Client: This needs to be done ASAP, big rush order, I want the FULL SHEBANG. I have tons of money to spend on this!

Seraph: Alrighties, well here's an estimate for this....

Client: Ok, uh...let's remove that, that, and that, and that....and go with the project!

Seraph: ....So you only want to go with...one page.

    Client: Yeah! Remember, RUSHHHHHh

<four days later after rushing the darned order>

Seraph: Ok, the ONLY thing left to be done, is for you to tell me the ONE sentence that goes here, so I can put that in. That's all, one tiny sentence of text, please keep it six words or less.

Client: No no no no I can't talk to you right now

Seraph: ??? You said this was a rush order, we're almost done, just need ONE line of text! That's all!!!

Client: NO I have finals NOW, and I do not have time to answer your emails or texts, I HAVE TO STUDY.

Seraph: Its just ONE SENTENCE, dude! That's it! 4-6 words! Please!

Client: NO COME BACK IN TWO AND A HALF WEEKS

Seraph: You could've just told me the words *now*, and we would have been done. Please, just take thirty seconds.

Client: NO I HAVE TO STUDY

Of course though, client proceeds to send me seven emails over the next week, NONE of which have the text, but all are exceptionally long emails describing just how busy he is and how he just simply cannot talk to me right now. Ok, whatever dude, you basically only owe a tiny amount left on it, if this is your attempt to not pay, I'm fine with leaving with 90% of the invoice collected, and selling off your project to someone else. After all, you haven't finished paying!

You Just Don't Get This, Do You? Pt. 3

Ok I've decided, I want a fully custom design, your script, hosting, and throw in DDOS protection, and I will pay you $100, if you really really need I can up it to $200

Oh snap. I think I know who you are now! HIYAS, BUDDY!

Since you're back yet again, I think I'm going to have fun with you this time.

Dear Client, I have considered your project, and have attached screenshot examples of the website I can provide you within these budget constraints. A fully custom, handmade design. Note the solid hosting, and the DDOS protection actively working to keep the website safe.

Haven't heard back from him since.

And now if you'll excuse me, back to playing with my new TARDIS--er....work. <.<

I think you might have undercharged for your example. At least give your DDOS guardian some good noms for all the hard work.

Is... is the cat the DDOS protection? Cause kitty does not look pleased with this idea.

I do always particularly enjoy the way you deal with scammers - though I must say I expected Amazon to be a little more, well, helpful with such things.

Welp, that's it folks. There's only one option.

I must take over Seraphs life, and perhaps eat her soul, because I must have that Tardis.

          *thinks for a moment*

Wait, that means I'd have to deal with the above.

Forget it, I'll just buy my own.

Cats are selfish, evil creatures, and generally do not like being involved in human schemes...

              ...unless treats are involved.

(I stand by my belief that "All Cats Are Evil," but will add that most cats are just mischievous, while others are actively malicious, proven by the way you wake up in the middle of the night and find them staring at you.)

There's literally no more website to speak of. They tore it COMPLETELY apart.

Yes, yes it does, and it has a curved photo on the inside to give the illusion of being bigger. ^^
