  • Cable Customers: Not Thinking Ahead & Military Excuses

C: Do you have uh email address for that TV station? I want to email them.
Me: No, but you can look it up online, sir.
    C: I don’t have a computer, mam.
Me: Then you can’t email them.
    C: Oh, I hadn’t thought about that.

    ************************************************** ***************

    C: My Internet is down!
Me: Sir, it appears your Internet service is down because you haven't paid your bill.
C: Well Jesus Pete! Why don't you people let me know about these things?
Me: Sir, we send you a bill every month.
C: Well so what? How is this MY fault??

    ************************************************** ***************

C: Is my bill past due?
    Me: Yes.
C: Oh shit! Goddammit! Oh sorry, I’m in the military.

First one: Just a tad slow. At least he/she isn't raising up a storm that you should provide internet access so they can email their TV station!

Second one: It's not OUR fault you refuse to acquaint yourself with the inside of the envelope. We'd email you, but it seems that it wouldn't do any good at this point...

Third one: Being in the military has little to do with it, unless they were overseas in the sandbox. They just flat forgot. Nothing wrong with that, because it happens to everyone once in a while!
If I make no sense, I apologize. I'm constantly interrupted by an actual toddler.

I get the impression he was apologizing for the cursing. I know for myself, that was when my vocabulary became a good bit saltier.

In the Navy, when stationed on a ship, it's quite common, in between six month cruises, for the ship to go out to sea for several days, even a couple of weeks or more, either just cruising or off to another port. Sometimes without much notice. Mail both ways can be erratic then as well. So it is possible for it to be a reason for not getting a bill paid on time (which is why direct payments are recommended, but not everyone sets it up).

Every bill of mine that has the option is on auto-pay. Even though I have them all listed on a calendar on my computer, complete with reminders popping up, I still can manage to forget things.

            1) I'm going to assume not thinking is a common problem for this person. Wow.
            2) What did they think those things you had been sending them were? Coasters? The "Jesus Pete" did amuse me though!
            3) Merriweather gave a good explanation for this, but still...odd. Just odd.
