  • If you don't know where you are...

SC - Hello, I have some questions about a notice I received.

Me - Okay, can I get your address so that I can pull up your account?

    SC - I don't know.

    Me - You don't know?

SC - No, I'm not sure what my address is.

Me - Okay, it should say on the notice you received. Do you have it?

SC - No, I threw it away when I got it. I get so much junk mail from you guys. Can't you look it up?

Me - Not without more information. Do you at least know what community you live in? Then I can look you up by name.

    SC - Of course! It's <city>.

Me - That's the name of the city. There are thousands of neighborhoods in that city. Which one do you live in?

    SC - I don't know.

    Me -

I would have thought you got one of GK's callers, but I have my doubts because he/she at least knows which city he/she lives in.
Fiancee: We're going to need to do laundry. I'm out of clean pants.
Me: Sounds like a job for Gravekeeper!
    Fiancee: What?!
    Me: Nevermind.

That's because they're all from Nunavut

GK callers and the SC above...Tho I would suspect, in the case of GK's callers, that they've been told where they live and just don't want to admit it...in other words, they're having Nunavut ...

Go look up some of the old posts by Gravekeeper - GK's callers never cease to amaze me that they are able to make the phone call with the little that they know.

From my pizza days, not every day, but it was common for people to call in and know exactly what kind of pizza they wanted.

But not know their address. .

And refused to understand why that meant they weren't getting a pizza delivered today.

"I don't understand! Can't you just bring it?"

"Not without an address, no, how can we bring it if we don't know where you are?"

"WELL! I don't understand why you're making this so difficult! You're not a very good business!"

                  Or some such variation.

                    Valley Rd.
                    Dubel Rd.

These are just some of the addresses I've had in my life. I don't always remember the numbers, as you can see, but I generally remember the streets. This list does not include my first 3 residences as an infant and toddler, as I merely know the towns I lived in, not the streets I lived on.

I learned how to pack before I learned how to walk.

(For those of you wondering why there are so many compass indicators in those addresses, those are pretty much from Phoenix, as just about every street everywhere in the Valley of the Sun is either North, South, East, or West. And in Phoenix, it is generally the norm to include the compass direction and ignore the suffix, i.e., Blvd., St., etc. So you would say "I live at 915 East Apache" if you were ordering a pizza, rather than "I live at 915 East Apache Boulevard." The exception to this would be if you lived on a Lane or Place with the same name as a Street or Road nearby, i.e., Hayden Place rather than Hayden Road, as the second is a major street, and the first is not. Oh, and no one lives at 915 E. Apache...last time I checked, it was a club.)

i've had times when i didn't know my address right away - like when I was at a new military command.

however i was at least able to order pizza - using the ship's name & pier # or the building number etc.

We get some people placing delivery orders who don't always know their address, but pretty much every one of them is a tourist at a hotel, so that's understandable.

I get TONs of people who don't know their address. That's why I can search by name, if they know what neighborhood they live in.

Because of my industry, everyone who calls is an owner, and not just a new tenant, guest, tourist, etc.

Not that there aren't people from out of state that own homes here. But again, if you own property and don't know where it is, you should probably hire someone to take care of it for you.

That's not unusual in the US Southwest in general. When my uncle lived in Albuquerque compass directions were very much the norm...unless the addy was in Sandia's complex.
