    This is wonderfully therapeutic, a small rant, and all the stress melts away.

    Anyway, I'd like to preface this rant with the phrase, I have nothing against any group of people, gay, black, muslim..... whatever, I don't care, more power to you. What I *hate* more than anything is people who expect special treatment because of what group they are in, and make you feel like a bigot or intolerant because you aren't giving them their way. I just wanted to say that for future postings, it will become relevant I'm sure.

    Anway, up here in the lush wilderness of Canada( ), we have natives, and they have their status cards (and some of these people with status cards are whiter than wonderbread) WHich allows them to not pay the provincial sales tax (8% in Ontario)

    <rant>

    Well, to the point, there was a woman, who came into staples, bought a pen (yes, singular) and made a point of insisting her status card be used.
    Paperwork of recording her name, address and phone number, status card number, filing the tax exempt.
    Pen = 65 cents
    Saved amount - 5 cents

    So.......yeah, I guess the nickel is really just that important.

      I AM a native whiter than wonderbread!
      And I am so totally not offended because Stupidity goes beyond race, gender and sexual preference!

      Just to say tho, my mom is fighting to get her and my native card, and she's more native than the current local micmac chef. Go us!
      Now would be a good time to visit So Very Unofficial!

        I live in Oregon, we have no sales tax. Washington has a sales tax, but I can be exempted from it if I show my Oregon driver's license. When we were travelling in Washington a few years ago, I was buying a pack of crayons (maybe $2). The clerk INSISTED that I fill out the paperwork for the tax exemption. This was at a shopping center where they get quite a few out-of-state visitors. Now, when I bought my truck in Washington, oh yeah, I was handing over that Oregon DL to get that exemption, but for a $2 box of crayons... Just let me pay the tax.
