Hi, guys! I just survived a three day sale. On Saturday I had to get up at five in the morning for the early shift. It was very stressful. Here's a woman who pissed me off.
For our bags we had a "Buy 1 Get 1 Free" morning deal going on, so she was shopping around those tables.
She put four bags on my desk, and I started scanning things, but she kept mixing things up and saying, "No, I want this one, but not that one." It took me three attempts to figure out what two she wanted. Okay, if you want just two of them, why are you giving me four and not even separating them?
The deal wasn't coming off for one of the bags, which told me that it wasn't actually part of the deal, especially since by itself it was coming up with a different discount. I tried to tell the woman this, but she started giving me an attitude right away. Like, a very nasty attitude. I was getting irritated, but I tried to keep cool as I explained to her that the deal wasn't on the bag she chose. She kept ranting, then finally the last straw came when she said, "I'm the customer, I should be getting it at this price."
Pardon the language, but REALLY, BITCH? Do you really want to start this at 8 in the morning?!
So I called a manager and she told me to override the price (I knew she would tell me to, I just didn't want the customer to think that I was caving in).
Before all that she had asked me if her coupon would work with those bags and I told her that they would not because they were a morning deal, and those do not take coupons under any circumstances. Well, after all the crap ended and she got her bags for the deal, she asked me again if her coupon would work.
"I know you said that it wouldn't, and I'm not saying you're wrong, but I just want you to try anyway."
SHIT. I knew it would, because I had to do an override, but telling her no would be pointless, so I scanned the damned coupon and she got her discount. What pisses me off about that is not only is what I say completely pointless to these people, but also if she wanted the morning deal, she should not have even been able to use the coupon, even if it did work. You either get the bag for its current price and use your coupon, or treat it as a morning deal and forget using the coupon. I only did it for her because I knew that the manager would tell me to do it anyway.
Oh, and yesterday I had a problem customer in, and I knew what kind of crap she'd be pulling. Another B1G1 problem. Buying just one bag will be discounted 30%, but buying two bags will make one bag go to zero and the other bag will only be discounted 25%. The lady complained about the price jump, so my coworker who was dealing with her called over a manager, and I was also sent over to her to explain what was going on with the price (the store manager sent me to deal with it, so I figured it was my word against the customer's). I called my coworker and told her what was going on, then ran over there to see how it was handled.
"You doing alright?" I asked her.
"Yeah, but I was told to change the price," she said.
"I told her to change the price anyway," the manager added.
That makes me so mad. What was the point in even having me over there if they're not even going to listen to me?! I give up.
