  • No we're not going to lie for you

Yesterday I learned of a story which started a couple of weeks ago when I was off.

A girl and her boyfriend had driven off without paying so after we got the police onto her. She came in yesterday morning to pay what she had owed us, saying that it was her sister who had driven off and not her.

Not long afterwards someone with an Irish accent rang, wanting to know if a girl had been in to pay the amount. My CW said that a girl with the same accent had been in and paid and mentioned that her sister was the one who had driven off.

    The mans reply was...

    "She doesn't have a sister"

After that the girl who had been in rang, crying about how she was going to be thrown out of the house and if her dad rings again could we lie and say that she wasn't there at the time of the drive off, as her father had forbidden her from seeing her boyfriend. My CW said that it depended on what he asked us and we couldn't really lie to him.

We wouldn't have lied to him anyway, as if she hadn't have driven off in the first place then none of this wouldn't have happened! I have no sympathy for her at all.

This sort of thing never ends well. I'm sorry you and your coworkers got caught up in it. Seriously, what was she really expecting after driving off without paying?

Personally, I'm betting her boyfriend put her up to this little stunt - and it's probably shit just like this that makes Daddy want to keep them apart.

The sad thing is, she's probably going to learn that her boyfriend isn't worth the trouble very soon. Problem is, it'll be a harsh lesson - if it hasn't been already.

So this lady actually has the gall to ask you to lie for her, after she had stolen from you? Granted, she obviously felt guilty and came back and paid, but the crime had already been committed. She gets exactly what she deserved. You broke the law, now you gotta face the consequences.
What if I was to go rob a bank today and then bring the money back tomorrow? I'm sure the manager will forgive me and not even call the police on me

In reading the OP I think it was less she felt guilty and more that the OP's store sic'ed the po-po on her. My guess is that her plates come back to her dad's address so he was the one answering the door when Officer Friendly paid a visit.

I think Jammer's right about that one.

I seriously doubt that little missy will learn much from this if she asked the CW to lie about the incident.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

You should never feel bad if telling the truth gets someone else in trouble, it's not your fault someone else chose to lie.

She was clearly more bothered about the fact that she was about to be caught out over her boyfriend rather than what she did. I wonder if she did get thrown out by her father...

"I might get in trouble from my dad...please lie for me, so we can go on stealing petrol."

                  this.

Sounds like her daddy found out that
                  1) she did a drive-off
                  2) that she lied to you
                  3) that if she wasn't driving then it mean the BF was. and it's clearly NOT the BF's car, which means it's likely she's been lying about that to her daddy too!
