  • Called the police on an SC

First of all, some background. We don't accept gift vouchers for petrol payment any more; this isn't a recent thing, it's been this way for months, since last year in fact. We have had a poster up on the wall ever since we stopped accepting vouchers; but of course, customers don't read signs do they?

The SC tried to pay for her petrol with a gift card. When my collegue explained to her that this was not possible, the SC then went nuttier than squirrel poo. She screamed, she shouted, she swore, she demanded a manager. The manager then told her the exact same thing, resulting in the SC screaming that since she was not allowed to use her voucher, she wasn't going to pay. The SC stormed out, and drove off.

The police were called and given the SC's details. Basically, unless she agrees to come back and pay, she's going to be arrested for theft. Now, was that tantrum REALLY worth it?

i guess it never dawned on her that you'd probably be able to get the plate. hell afaik most gas stations have cameras set up specifically for that too.

side note... is it bad that i originally read the title as "called an SC on the police?"
    it's early i guess.

I think all gas/petrol stations need magnets such as those used in junkyards to pull a vehicle off the ground if the customer attempts a drive-off...

        . . .

That has to be one of the most beautiful images I have ever had in my mind.

I suspect she had no thought that it was a crime! I'm beginning to think that some SCs think that not paying is an option if they don't like something, in the same way that you might not pay your cable bill if they don't actually provide the service they promise.

Sorry SCs, it doesn't work that way with physical product! In fact it only works that way with services in the case where you can prove they didn't live up to their end of the deal. Otherwise, they are well within their rights to cut you off and send you to collections!

Either that or they are such special snowflakes, that such rules don't apply.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Yeah i see that a lot - especially over at PFB. People actually think bills are "optional" and that they can refuse to pay any bill that they dislike or disagree with without repercussion.

it's always interesting to see just how much they end up fucking themselves over by sticking to that plan.

I have met plenty of people who do have a logic train like that

                      1. laws/rules only exist to put criminals in jail/rabble in their place

                      2. Important people don't have to follow laws/rules anyway

                      3. I'm NOT a criminal/common rabble

                      4. I'm VERY important

                      5. Therefore, I'm NOT breaking the law/the rules when I choose to not follow them and even if I am, It's allowable for an important person like me.

That would be beyond cool! Alas, like the trapdoor to the alligator pit at the cash register, it could only exist in a customer service employee's dream...
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

The one reason I'd be against this is because I wouldn't have any delicious popcorn to enjoy when it happened. The imagery of an SC screaming, swearing, and pounding on the door... Not having some fresh popcorn with me would be injustice. Eh, I guess a slushee would be alright. But the thought of said scene puts a wonderful smile on my face. Bonus points if SC is afraid of heights.

Are you trying to give those poor Alligators nightmares or poisoning them? I vote for a spike pit. Much more humane to any poor animals.

Well the business would certainly set up a popcorn machine if they put in a giant magnet. XD
