  • Mein gott in himmel...

Our smtp server suddenly decided to not accept people's passwords. Soooo, all the faculty members are getting pop-ups going "RE-ENTER PASSWORD! NO! That was WRONG!"

And then they call me. I got 4 calls while typing this so far, and I'm a fast typer.

If it makes you feel better, I was alone at the Helpdesk when the Blaster virus hit.

Thankfully, the first call I got was from the dept head warning me that it was hitting, and what to tell people. But still... yeah, I know how ya feel.

Heh... part of the problem was that I got about 2-3 hours of sleep slumped at a computer desk with my backpack for a pillow.

I woke up to the professor (who had walked by and put the course evaluation form in front of me without a response, followed by having classmates call my name) asking "uh, could someone make sure she's breathing?", followed by a buddy of mine poking me.

So, I wasn't in the best of mental states to deal with lots of people calling and coming to the desk and calling and going aaaaaaugh. And it was an abnormally busy day, too, what with everybody on campus trying to do 10 bajizillion things at once while their computers break.

Well that's sad..but I had to walk through rain, puddles, lakes, small rivers and wind today.

Went from offices into large ship to set some stuff up. Guess what? The parts I needed were back in the office....crap.

Ran back to office. Got some parts. Found out one machine had no hard drive. Crap. NO hard drives at office. Any other crap machines to swap?....
on and on and on and on...

Got sent home from work - EVERYONE today...due to flooding.

        Road to home was flooded.

        Took ferry to Seattle.

Got out at 2 pm but on ferry at 5:30.

        ARRRGHTGHGHGHGHGHG.

          Sleep? At the Helpdesk???

          LOL.

There was only one time I was able to sleep at the Helpdesk, when I was a student. I was on the early morning (8am, :P) shift, I came in, and the power went out. We used cordless phones at the Helpdesk. That extra hour of sleep was good.

Ah, no, this wasn't actually at the tech desk. It was in the classroom in the Engineering Building where I had my Network Security class at 9 am. After that class, I went to work, and got that sequence of calls.

BEFORE class. I worked in that lab until about 7ish, slouched over and slept, and then was woken up by the prof at the start of class at 9.

I have my first class at 9, and then I work from 10-2 on MWF. When I said "I worked in that lab", I meant that I stayed up for the sake of papers and projects. Ugggggh.
