  • I've NEVER Seen THAT Before

Whenever something goes wrong with someone's computer they invariably start to notice things they never have before. Oh, they also believe these things to be the cause of the problem.

Case in point: A guy had bought one of the cheapest systems we carry with an AOC monitor. Said computer keeps 'blanking out' when he reboots. Suddenly he notices that is says 'ANALOG INPUT' whenever he starts his computer. Never mind it has probably done this every time he boots the computer because it is just displaying the input signal.

Any have any funny stories of people noticing something unrelated that has been in front of them the whole time and blaming the problem on it?

We run into something kinda sorta similar when we install a new radio into certain Dodge Caravan mini-vans. The factory audio system was available as a base, 4-speaker system, or an upgrade 8-speaker system. The upgrade system includes front door speakers, and the base system does not. However, the same door panel is used for both types, so the vans with the base audio system have a speaker grille on the door, but no speaker under it.

Sometimes after we install a new radio the customer will suddenly notice that, all of a sudden, his door speakers don't work any more. Then we have to spend a surprising amount of time convincing the customer that he never had working speakers there in the first place.
