  • I am teh lazy!

So, I've been working on this computer for about 3 days. I'd get something started on it, get distracted on my PC, and get back to it after like an hour... despite my work station being about a chair turn and half a step from my computer.

So, I have a brain storm.... and remote into the computer I could turn around and use! Much easier not to get distracted now, since it's on my second monitor!

Anyone else have stories of brazen laziness?

Not a work story exactly but my friend had to take EMT class and he gets home wanting some pizza. He cooks it but has no clean cutting instruments. But wait...he has his trauma shears. Those became the kitchen scissors for a bit.

It probably doesn't fall into the lazy category, but I recently bought a new computer for my own personal use. Very shiny. Migrating the data was proving difficult. The computers would just not talk to each other over my network. After 45 minutes of trying to get them to work, I just gave up. Took the old hard drive out of the old computer and plugged it into the new one. So much faster.

This, of course, doesn't work on the computers at the office. I still can't get those XP boxes to play nicely. Though, at least there I can blame the individual advisers' computers for it. The advisers sure don't know what's going on, which makes it so easy to say that its "a hardware incompatibility." That's where I get lazy. Though, why they expect a registered rep (stock trader) to be able to fix computers in beyond me.

Right now, I keep my mail open on my secondary monitor (unless I remote into a computer, then I stick that screen over there).

I want to do what the DBA did. He had three monitors, two computers. The middle monitor was as the main for both computers, using a KBM switch. It was sweet. If I had deskspace, floorspace or power, I'd sooo do it myself. I kinda miss Vista.

Personally, I use a KVM switch. One monitor, keyboard and mouse, for two computers.

There's actually a pretty nifty program out there that will let you run two computers and two monitors from the same keyboard and mouse, and the only "switch" involved is dragging your mouse pointer from one monitor to the other.

Some guy on the site talking about using the program uses the second system with his son's WoW account to two-box with a single keyboard and mouse because his son isn't home much to play with him.

Wanna really talk about being lazy?

This is an invention of my S/O (X); the uber box (the 2 tirabite computer that we use for EVERYTHING) is plugged into a 40-something inch Widescreen TV with a smaller 28inch tv below it so we can play TV shows AND computer games at the same time. All of which is plugged into THE MASTER CHAIR; a lazy boy chair that has been outfitted with cup holders, remote cubbie and a cubbie for the gamecube/XBOX/PS3/N64 game controllers.

Yes, he's a lazy genius. The only thing its missing is the fridge!

That's what dorm fridges are for!

Anyways, if you get the fridge set up, then you'd have to figure in "waste" removal, and we really don't want to go there.
