Though not too fond of my brother-in-law right now.
I get a call today from him, and he's being all hypothetical to make it sound like it wasn't him. The symptoms were that he would plug in his thumb drive (and if he didn't put in jumpdrive in his beating around the bush explanation) and he can see the files, but cannot access them.
The problem? His thumb drive had it's lock engaged. (he tried to blame his daughters for doing it.
The solution? Switch off the lock on the outside of the drive.
Supposedly he spent 3 hours trying to figure out what happened and how to fix it before calling me, freaking out because it's the electronic contents of his home business.
I swear, he's gonna virtually/literally blow up a machine one of these days and phone me on how to fix it over the phone. I'd start billing him, but that presumes I'd expect him to pay me.
