  • FYI details help

I got a email for a user about some issues they were having with a PC that is used by multiple people (i.e Sally uses it Monday for task A, Susie Tues for Task B, etc)

Susie reports that recently they were workign on said PC and some strange error message pops up, they click cancel. Also some message pops up saying some update were performed and it must be restarted. Oh, also it can not always connect to the network. It's been like this for weeks...FIX IT NOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!

In a futile attempt to try to get more info I reply and ask the user if they remember DETAILS about said messages. Nope. Just FIX IT NOOOOW!!!!

I go look at the PC and make sure it is workign properly. I try to recreate their daily tasks from a account I created with same permissions. Nothing.

I tell the user this and ask them to please contact us when the error happens, not weeks later. Remarkably they have found the solution....remove the security software and stop Win Updates as that was the problem. Ummmmm....no.

Why do I have a feeling that they will try to disable the security software and/or Windows Updates. I love that we have in out policies that attempting to do said above action can result in a loss of your network access.
Working...
