  • Access 2007 Fun

    Has anyone had this problem?

They just converted us to Office 2007 (oh joy). The problem I'm having is with Access 2007. We have a database that was originally created with Access 2003. Now that we have Access 2007 loaded on our computers, every time we close the database and it compacts - it creates a copy of the database. No error message at all, it just creates a new copy (example 'filename1' 'filename2') when we close the existing database - the weird thing is that the copies are all different sizes.

I'm not all that technical, so I'm pretty sure anyone that may have an idea of the problem will need more info from me. Please let me know what info you need, or if you have any suggestions. I'm very good at following directions, and any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks bunches!!!!!!

I have no idea... but I wish you luck!

I'm avoiding 2007 at all costs. That interface scares me. And yes, I've had to try using it. Not to mention how pissed I am that they changed the file format to force everyone to upgrade, and now we have to go around and install the converter on everyone's machine. Install for 2k7 takes an hour... we don't have that kind of time.

Phoenix, I had a cache copy popup, but it disappeared a few seconds after. Is that what's happening to you?

Shabo, now that I'm using it on XP, I LIKE Office 2007. Well, after I figured out where most of the crap was hidden on Word. Actually, let me just say that I LIKE Outlook 2007.

And, anyway, set everything to default to save to 97-2003, and that won't bother you anymore.

Does Access use a tilde in the cache filename? That might be an easy way to check?

(Still happily using Word '97) (SR 2! though...)
