  • How to get out of Safe Mode

Well not the actual Safe Mode, but the other. The one where it only displays 4 colors and gets into the Screen resolutions is the ugliest & that it wont let us hardly do any programs.

Usually when it happens, we have to restart it about 1000 times for it to go back to normal. But it happened at work today and we need it to use our main program. So the question is, how do we get out of it?

Also to note, we did press F12 and put it on normal. But it still didn't work

    Sounds like borked display drivers.

Grab the latest ones from the manufacturer and follow the manufacturers instructions.

If it still causes problems then use Driver Cleaner or Driver Sweeper first, Driver Sweeper is free.

Uninstall graphics card drivers through the Add\Remove programs list
Uninstall associated stuff that comes with drivers (Control panels)
Reboot computer into safe mode (Tap F8 on startup, choose safe mode from the menu)
Run Driver cleaner\sweeper as per included instructions*
Reboot normally, when windows tries to install cancel all attempts
Install the new drivers as instructed on the website

*If you have an Nvidia or Intel graphics card be aware that some computers also have Nvidia\Intel chipsets on the motherboard, the graphics card stuff is normally easy to spot

if you updated your video card drivers from Windows Update i would uninstall all the drivers for the video card and reinstall the ones that came with your computer or video card and not from Windows Update because Windows Update messed up my video card drivers before

F&R's right. Get them straight from the manufacturer. Find out exactly what card you're running, and get the newest drivers right from the manufacturer's website.

F&R, I will try that when I go back to work. Thank you. I didn't even think about it being the drivers. I will try Windows Update, and take it from there

Okay, I'm hoping that was just a mistake in typing. But UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES USE WINDOWS UPDATE FOR YOUR VIDEO CARD DRIVERS. Go directly to the maker's website, download them from there, and install those.

You can right click on your desktop, select properties. Select the settings tab and adjust the resolution and color quality there. That should reset it to what it was. Note: You may need to move desktop icons around again.

That's temporary until you fix the driver issue.

And like broomjockey said NEVER use windows update for video drivers. Actually, only use windows update for security patches to the OS itself.

For driver updates go to the manufacturer's sites (as has been said here before).

You are right, it was mistake.

It was the Video Card. It did went bad. We have another computer in the back office, and it is hardly ever used. So I just switched the cards, updated the drivers from the company website. Got it fixed. So to everyone, thank you for the help. It would never dawn on me, that it would be the Video Card
