I'm having problems with windows media player, every few minutes the inmage freezes, the sound keeps going and if I maximize the image it starts again, or if it;s maximizes if I return it to a window it starts again, anyone have any clue why and how to fix it?

My google fu seems weak with this as I can't find a solution.

In the Media player options, try altering the graphics acceleration. if you've got more info - what types of media, what version of MP is it, do you have a graphics card etc i might be able to give you more tips

OK, does it do this with any other media? = CD/Local file etc.
Do you have any DVD player applications? Power DVD etc?
If it does this with other files, have you tried any other media apps?
Sorry for all the questions, just trying to narrow it down for you and me both

Haven't seen it happen on other files, VLC doesn't have a problem.

How the frak do you change the graphics acceleration in WMP 11?

Shold be "Tools" menu, Options, and go to the Performance Tab. There should be a slider bar under "Video Acceleration" - Try half way first and go from there

If i read your post right VLC and other files are fine, so it looks like Media Player is kaputted in some way. Try re-installing it (unless you have the exe you'll need to download it from Microsoft's site)

(Disclaimer. Yes, kaputted is a technical term. I made it up.... I swear! :P)

See, that's the thing, in WMP 11 there is no Video acceleration or slider bar, there's only connection speed, network buffering and DVD and video playback, and all that's under that is 4 check boxes.

I've experienced this problem with both WMP and the DIVX player. Essentially, if it crashes in one player, I open it with the other and it's fine. Sometimes I have to chuck them both and open it in Windows Media Classic.

I've been thinking all this time that it's been a codec vs version issue.
