    Service Pack 3

    Ok, this has to do with the constant reboot problem... but I'm confused.


    Microsoft says it is caused by having a registry entry that turns Intelppm.sys on on AMD machines.

    Well I just checked and I don't have that registry entry, which means I SHOULD be able to install SP3.

    However, the last time I tried, I got the constant reboot problem.


    What gives?

    You might have the blaster virus which was notorious for making machines reboot constantly. Try a virus scan-it couldn't hurt to try that.

      Nope, virus scan runs everyday, plus it only does the reboot if I try to install SP3. The minute I reverted back to SP2, it stops.

        I had that problem with an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe board.

        What you're probably not seeing is a blue screen before it reboots. I'll bet it's a Stop 0x000000A5 error - The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant.

        Asus released a BIOS update that fixes the issue. I would suggest you go to your motherboard or system manufacturer's website and see if there's a BIOS update that addresses this issue.

            Ok, got the updated BIOS, made sure I don't have the intelppm problem (again).


            .... Here goes nothing. If you don't hear back from me for like 4 hours, it probably didn't work =P
