  • Album seen in My Music, but not in WMP library?

I downloaded a copy of the "Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind" soundtrack...it's in My Music and I can play it using right-click > Play, yet it is nowhere to be found in the "Library" view in Windows Media Player. Any suggestions as to how I can get WMP to see it in the list?

Which version of WMP are you using?

11 (in some ways I like the update, some ways I hate it).

The folder contents are the 13 music tracks plus three jpg album art files, desktop.ini and thumbs.db (IIRC, same as the other albums I have). Two other discs that I downloaded the same way are showing up on the WMP list.

Easiest way seems to be letting WMP rebuild the library. So, make sure WMP isn't running, navigate to %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\
find the media player folder and right click and delete it then open windows media player it will recreate the folder and prompt you to add folders to your library add your monitored folders and click "OK" then watch it scan your folders and add your media. If you've got any playlists you want to save, take those out first. I got the steps off a different forum where someone was having the same problem, so the file path might be slightly different based on your exact OS.

That didn't work it seems. For some reason, this computer has four different profiles (not Windows profiles, I see them in My Computer); I'm not 100% positive which one is actually being used so I'm wary of deleting any. I did go into each one and get rid of the folder you mentioned (I think I got it, the path was slightly different from what you wrote as this is XP), but I suspect I didn't do something right as my saved playlists are still there.

What I should do is back up all music/documents and just rebuild from scratch...although this computer is maxed out on RAM and still slow, so I may just need to set my SuperRig(tm) up in its place.

The easiest way to discover what user profile is being used, click on Start, then Run (or Windows button + R) and type %userprofile% and press enter. The folder that opens up is the profile that is currently in use.

Also, I would not delete user profiles from explorer. Right-click on My Computer and open the system properties. From there, click on the Advanced Tab, and then the User Profiles button. Highlight and delete the extra user profiles from there.

WARNING! Doing this will delete all files associated with that profile! Make sure you don't have anything in that users documents/music/whatever that you need to keep. It would be worth your while to poke around in the document directories fo each of these and make sure there's nothing you want to keep.
