  • Macbook battery help.

For reference, I have a 2006 Macbook, bought it right when they made their debut.

I'm in the market for a new battery and am looking at 3rd party alternatives, mainly to save money being a student and all. So far I've heard FastMac is the best option but I want some opinions for those who have bought from them. Any other 3rd parties and their pros/cons would be great as well.

    Thanks in advance everyone.

While I haven't used fastmac, I've had bad experiences using 3rd party components outside of things like RAM, which still come from reputable sources.

Your mileage may vary. Just remember, batteries tend to get expensive, and a battery in a 4 year old laptop may or may not be worth it. :-)

I've had good experience with non-OEM batteries for my PowerBooks & my Pismo. The only caveat is that you really need to "train" the batteries. You know, the charge it up, run it down completely, charge it up, then run it down completely process. I did that with my current battery and it's working fine 18 months later. Hubby didn't (his was purchased at the same time from the same eBay seller) and his won't hold more than a 30 minute charge now.

      But yeah, YMMV.
