I'm a little confused considering Ubuntu (linux) is the only OS on my system.........

I'm pretty sure that's just a scam. I know that my husband would get random PM's on skype by people that he didn't know trying to get him to go to a pr0n site.
I can only please one person a day, today isn't your day, and tomorrow doesn't look good either.

When someone asks you a stupid question, give them a stupid answer.

Yep, this is a scam. They're trying to get into the system.

Figured as much. I've never used skype so I didn't know that sort of thing went on.

Will suggest downloading malwarebytes if you don't already use it. Just to be on the safe side, run a complete scan.

            MB doesn't run on Linux.

edit: also, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=540014 mostly its of no concern

Were you on Windows, it would be an attempt to get you to infect yourself with rogueware, but as it is, it's nothing to worry about.

ok how do i stop this because I've gotten 4 of those since I posted that message. This is the only place my skype is listed publicly and about 5 people have me added on skype so :|

I had a run of similar a while ago & I don't advertise my Skype anywhere.
First, for the dodgy messages, block the user & report them, then if you haven't already done so, go to options & IM settings & make sure "only allow people on my contact list to contact me" is checked.
If you don't want random calls you can do the same in options, Privacy. Also under that tab, there is an advanced button with more options you can use to up security.

Since I did that, can't remember the last time I had a spam message

Odd. I've had Skype for a few weeks now and haven't gotten any spam or idiots, and I leave myself open for random messages as I actually made a couple of really good friends (I still chat with some of them) years back when I was still using ICQ.

But, yeah. Any message about Windows security that doesn't come up as part of the Windows OS or Defender suite is a phish.

I got this message, twice, while using the Skype app for my Android based cellphone. It's one thing when you're running Linux, but when your very hardware isn't capable of running Windows.... it cracked me up.

The saddest thing is, this kind of thing actually works. I'm almost certain it's a worm with no real human involvement; people will click the link and download it thinking they have to. All a hacker has to do is seed two or three machines with garbage like this and boom, instant botnet.
