  • Connecting a 1st gen Macbook to a RCA TV

Trying to hook my computer to TV, I have a 1st gen Macbook and my TV is RCA. Are there any cables that can support this or do I have to do a variety of things in order to do this? Also, what else is needed in order to generate audio from the TV?

    Thanks in advance!

All this just so I can watch Archer on a TV.
The Grand Galactic Inquisitor hears all and sees all.

That entirely depends on what connections are on the back (or front) of your TV.

The first gen MacBooks had a mini-DVI plug. That is (sadly) a proprietary connector Apple used for a while, and would require you to go to their physical or online store and buy an adaptor. You can get a Mini-DVI to DVI, Mini-DVI to VGA, or a Mini-DVI to S-Video. That list is ordered from best quality video output to worst quality video. If your TV has a connector that looks like this:

Then you need the Mini-DVI to DVI.

If it has something like this:

Then you need Mini-DVI to VGA.

If it has neither of those, but has this:

    Then you'd need the Mini-DVI to S-Video.

    Me: Gentoo.
Coworker: Ahh. A Masochist. I thought so.

If you got the Macbook new, it may have come with the adapter you need. Heck, I got my PowerBooks used off eBay and they came with the adapters. Ebay also has good deals on used and new connectors (waaay cheaper than Apple).
Sorry, my cow died so I don't need your bull
