  • Internet Protection Help

I'm visiting my family this weekend, and they have a new all-in-one computer that runs on Windows 7. My brother left the computer on last night, and ever since Mom got on this morning, it keeps popping up messages from Internet Protection about being infected with spyware, malware, trojans, you name it. Followed on its wanting an activation code...it wants me to purchase a program called Internet Protection for $79.99.

I've run MalwareBytes, HijackThis, a Fake AV Remover from Trend Micro, ran Webroot...I can't get rid of it.

    Help!

There may actually not be any trojans, viruses etc. at all. Might just be entirely a web-based thing...... What browser is on the machine...... check for add-ons that don't belong.
There's no such thing as a stupid question... just stupid people.

It's got IE on it, Google Chrome, and I just downloaded Firefox. Google Chrome hasn't been working recently apparently, so they've been using IE mostly.

And going to try your site, patiokitty.

So found a shortcut to the Internet Protection on the desktop. In properties it reads: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Protection\Internet Protection.dll", phweezmxlcyachv

What do I do with this?

And tell your parents if something on a webpage pops up to say" You're infected! Click here!" that it's rogue ware and to NOT do that.

ONLY use the cleaning thingy next to the clock. The color scheme of the antivirus next to clock will give it away - the one on webpage would nto have it.

When SUSPECTED to be infected, STOP and run your OWN cleaner.

Tough if they want to do something before that.. Tell em they can't run the car when oil's getting checked.

Try this. It has worked for me in the past.
