old account was deactivated and fixed here, its just with the the sims3 that is basically a neverending game sort of and when done with one family move on to the other one. but have yet to see how its affected the other ps3 games. ps2 and below seem fine.
sign on names and passwords have been changed, old account deleted. since our ps3 would not let it delete the account with at least one profile on it. so hubs made a user1 so that he could delete ours AFTER transferring game data

figured this whole issue was to discourage used console sales or basically what we did....sigh. bastards better appreciate that new 360

Not to sound like an ass, but I'm getting mixed messages here. Was the account deactivated or deleted? I ask because there is difference between the two. A deactivated account basically detaches it's association with that console completely, while a deleted account simply removes the console's ability to access that account, but it's still tied to that account.

If you simply deleted the account, then I repeat what I said before. You need to contact sony to have that system deactivated from the account so you can activate it on the new system.

you aren't an ass, i cannot type and have a VERY bad habit of generalizing.
        OK Old ps3 OP3 and current Ps3 CP3.

we gave OP3 to bil who traded it in for a new 360 for his wife and kids so that he could keep his and his wife and kids could use the new one for their netflix and what have you. we got his CP3. hubs took all out saved game data and transfered it to CP3. deleted all our data from OP3 and old sign on but to do so had to make a profile as apparently ps3's won't let you NOT have at least ONE profile. so he made "user1" literally and thats all it was just a name so that he could delete his profile from OP3

CP3 now has his name, password and previous profile from OP3 and bil's profile as he wasn't sure if they wanted to keep the game data or not.
Hubs Deleted his account from OP3 and moved it to CP3 but we should probably call to have bil's account deactivated otherwise i apologize for sounding mean, its not intended and for not being more specific

Nope, not mean. Just wanted to clarify it without coming off as rude myself.

So the account was deleted (there's an option in the user settings in the XMB which allows the system to be deactivated from the account which should be done) and yeah, it would be a good idea to do so. It's my best guess as to why you're having issues with the PS3 games (the emulation stuff isn't linked to accounts so it's unaffected).

Well I can tell you the reason for problems with PS3 data, is the fact they don't want you "sharing" your saves, for instance you can't transfer trophies (at least last I checked before sony screwed us removing other OS) the ps1 and ps2 game saves, don't have all the fancy copy protection.
I'm sorry reading is not a new concept it has been widely taught in our nation for at least the past 100 years. Please, learn to do it CORRECTLY before you become contagious.

dun care about trophies. yes i know thats gamer blasphemy but its similar to the 360 gamer points, if i can't really do something with it, its just a status symbol of the amount of time I spent on video games instead of with daughter. yes having a kid changed that for me but...what can I say.
and not saying bad about that or that having daughter is bad, just sometimes miss the hours on end gaming I used to spend on days off when I had finished chores and actually had TIME to devote to hours on end of gaming
so far the game saves are ok.
hubs doesn't want to deactivate BIL's account because it has directors edition of resident evil. resident evil 2, mortal combat 2 and dino crisis otherwise bil doesn't care either

                - 60gig Phat has hardware chip to play older games. IIRC, this is the ONLY one that has it; if not, this is the one that can play the largest number of older games -- say 95% of the PS2 library. Easily distinguishable by having "chrome" accents and four USB ports (there was another 60g model released later, sans chrome and sans chip, possibly with only 2 USB ports).

                - The Chrome model/original release, if that's what you have, is worth noticeably more (if he plans to just sell the damn thing...). At the very least, this is not an "even swap" situation.

                - 80 gig is indeed hybrid, maybe 80-90% compatible?

                - Transferring saves has only one "official" way to work of which I am aware. This requires hooking up the two machines directly to one another via ethernet cable and transferring EVERYTHING from system A (your old one) to system B (the 80g). This will completely erase ALL data that was already on on the destination unit (80g), and then, once the transfer is complete, the source (60g) drive will wipe itself clean. There is a special utility buried in the System area of the menu that does this for you.

                - The PSN/PS3 update that came out a couple of days ago DID make it possible to, at least temporarily, transfer saves between machines via the "cloud" (online storage) -- but you must be a Playstation Plus subscriber to access them. Note that the free goodies from the PSN "apology" included a free month of Plus...I know nothing more about this feature, so caveat emptor.

Ahh, sorry about that -- I came in late on this one, and I didn't realize that the transaction had already taken place >_< Oh well

As for GS not giving the full value...well, yeah ^_^ 'tis to be expected. No store -- proper pawnshops included -- is going to give you anywhere near what you could (theoretically) get for something like that on eBay. Just doing business, I suppose ::

its ok, not your fault. i already knew that this was going to be a bad trade in what they are worth but hubs HAD to do it so. If brother in law comes back whiney then too bad for him. so far we haven't had anymore problems. thank you for the info though
