  • Sound problems

For some odd reason I got messing around with Realtek HD Audio and screwing with the settings. Mostly just effects, equalization and stuff...but then my sound went to total CRAP! It sounds sort of like just a really cheap set of speakers...running on batteries, and the batteries are about to die.

Also sounds like opening a regular good quality wave file in sound recorder and setting the quality WAAAAY down. Which is also an option in RHDA. However, I restored all the defaults, nothing changed. I've tried several speakers and headphones, all sound like crap.

Did I fry my soundcard or something?

Seems likely that you've changed the default sample rate. It should be either 44 or 48 kHz.

Even though you mentioned a sound card, I'm going to ask if you have a desktop or a laptop. If it's a desktop, do you have audio jacks in the front (on the case) and the back (motherboard)? Try plugging in headphones into the one you hadn't used and see if it sounds better, the way it should. It's a temporary fix.

The sound rate output is a good guess though. Is there a way to switch it back to default settings too?
