Win 7 Pro 64bit
GeForce vid card, DX 10-level from within the last couple of years, unsure of exact model
ASUS p55somethingorother mobo, core i3 cpu
------------
I've been having an odd issue for some time now -- My computer will cut off the video signal to my monitor right at twenty minutes anytime I'm watching a video or listening to music, as it apparently considers the comp to be "idle", unless I'm sitting right in front of it and jiggle the mouse every 15 mins or so.
If I am sitting at my comp to watch something, this is only a minor annoyance -- if I'm on the couch and just wanna watch a movie or something, it's a major hassle.
The thing is..
- It happens whether I connect to my LCD monitor (DVI) or my TV (HDMI); the TV actually drops to "no signal found" mode and audio gets cut off, too
- Active Power scheme in Windows set to "never" turn off the monitor (tried setting it to 5 hours, too, no help) nor HD, no sleep/hibernate/hybrid/etc allowed. Not sure if I can disable power schemes, but I have it set to "high performance"/always on, in addition to manually disabling anything sleep-related
- Nothing in the BIOS I can see that would affect this (set to S3 for suspend, as default)
- Nothing in the Nvidia control panel I can see that would affect this, nor in the video player settings
- Happens in mediaplayer, zoom player, VLC, all of 'em
The really odd thing is this: The video/audio keep playing when the screen goes to sleep, it just doesn't play either one. If I allow it to "sleep" at 20 minutes and come back 5 minutes later, the video will be at 25 minutes. (tho, sometimes the video just glitches out and forces me to kill the media player and reload the video)
Any ideas?
