First afternoon off from work in weeks, so what do I do? drive to Wisconsin to get beer

Ganoganorf 60 Schilling from the Oliphant brewery 4.5% ABV.


Nice nose. insane head.

Taste. good. a bit of smoke. a bit of sweet. very good balance.

EDIT - Now that I've updated my list, I know that this was my 250th unique beer of the year. Not a bad choice. I don't think I'll make it to 500, but we'll see how many I can get.

Toraifosu Belgian style with molasses 7.6% ABV.

Dark brown, with a bit of head. the nose is minimal.

Taste: nice, again. some sweetness due to the molasses. nice full flavor.

Black Witch

Black colored, no nose
Taste: wow. explosion of hops. nice hops. Very delicious.

Light golden color. again no nose.
Taste: holy cow! very malty and hoppy. It explodes in my mouth. nice.

Gothic
More amber colored. no nose
More mellow, at first. the hops kick in after.fairly easy drinking. a slight step down, but not much

Wheat
No nose, golden colored.
Well it is a good example of a wheat beer. I do like the Schells and Yuengling better, but this is a easy drinking beer, perfect for a hot day, like today.

Pale Ale
Amber colored.no nose.

Taste: well, now this is very interesting. it is very peachy flavored. it is fariy mellow otherwise, but the peaches really come out. a nice beer for a hot day again.

I think I will make the trek again to here. damnit, now I have 3 stops in the Hudson area.

EDIT - These beers were all part of a flight, and do not count toward my yearly total. That being said, I did get a growler of the Bucky's Honey Wheat, and that one will count when I drink it in a full sized glass.

Picnic Ants - O'so Brewing
Light golden color, and a moderate head. I like the nose, it's kinda citrusy.

Taste: This is a very light beer, but does have some flavor. It has citrus hints. This is a good beer for a nice hot day. Yeah, it was 80 today, but still good.

Totally Naked from New Glarus Brewing

Very light golden, almost clear. Minimal head. No nose to speak of.

Taste - Well, not much. It is fairly boring. A lot lighter flavored than the Spotted Cow.

Nice golden color, with a moderate head. The nose isn't really much there.

Taste - Well, it's good. A lighter flavor good for a hot day. I would have preferred more flavor, but not bad.

Next Beer

Farmhouse Red from Blue Moon - 5.8% ABV

Nice amber color with a frothy head. I get hints of fruit in the nose.

Taste - I get hints of pepper in this beer, along with some fruit notes. Damn, more than hints of pepper, it's very prevalent. Considering I'm a pepper-a-holic, (the amount of black pepper I put into my food is insane, like me) I like this beer a lot.

Since the New horizons probe visited Pluto last week, a planetary beer is in order

Mercury - Bell's Brewing 4.8% ABV

Frothy head, and golden colored. Fruity nose.

Taste - As the planet Mercury speeds around the Sun, this beer speeds down my throat. It has hints of fruit, and is a fairly light, easy drinking beer.

Even though Mercury is the 1st planet, this beer gets a 7 out of 10.

Captain Peligro Pale Ale from Oliphant Brewing - 6% ABV

Golden Color, thick head. Nice hops nose.

Taste - Nice hops flavor. In a way mellow. The hops kick in after, and they kick in good. nice IPA

Hefeweissbier Dark from Weihenstephanner 5.3%ABV

Brown colored, with a thick head. The nose is really good, a lot of wheat in it.

Taste - Oh, my! This is awesome. A perfect wheat beer really tasty and full flavored. A perfect way to unwind after a stupid long day at work.

Angry Planet Pale Ale from the Flat Earth Brewing Company - 6% ABV, 48 IBU, 14 SRM, 1.060 OG

HOLY HEAD BATMAN! I got a quarter of the way up my glass when pouring, and it was about to overflow, and it did start shooting out of the bottle. The head is slow to dissipate. This beer, from what little is in my glass, looks amber colored.

Taste : once I get through the head, which is not an easy task, I really don't get much flavor, at first. There is a citrus aftertaste. There is a slight hop bite also, but doesn't show up right away. This is a strange beer, and I'm not too sure I like this one a lot.

Sounds like one of those beers tasted like ass. When Bell does Pluto, will it be a malt liquor (similar to beer but not meeting the legal definition), since Pluto was recently un-defined as a planet?
