Oh, yeah. Forgot about health insurance. We get it. I don't have to pay a dime for dental stuff.

I was looking into being a flight attendant about a year or so ago. All the carriers I looked at had a hight requirement of 5"2'. At my last yearly exam I was 5' 1/4".
Do you know if there's any way around it??
hey I know what you mean, I kinda looked into being a flight attendant, but the only airlines that have crew based in Salt Lake are Delta and Sky West... for Delta you must be fluent in at least 2 languages (at least at the time I looked into it... I think they were specifically looking for french to staff the new route from SLC to Paris and sky west has a maximum height of 6 ft (they run the smaller commuter planes and over 6 ft wouldn't have free movement) and i'm 6'2"
If you wish to find meaning, listen to the music not the song
vision insurance - I do what Irving does and alternate this one, too
401(k) after 1 year - Evil Insurance Co matches to 3%
life insurance and disability - I pay for this myself
2 weeks (10 days) vacation
6 paid holidays (the usual suspects)
1 floating holiday (although sometimes Bossman designates this for us)
6 paid sick days per year (oh, the irony)
Unofficial:
Bossman sometimes springs for coffee...when he wants some and is too lazy to go get it.
Bossman sometimes buys lunch for us...when he wants us to have a "working lunch" and not leave.
We get reimbursed at a rate slightly higher than the IRS rate for using our own cars...which we're required to do (and off-book, at that) during enrollment season.
I get one tank of gas every week on the boss's dime.
I get nearly unlimited time to access the internet from work.
I work 45 hours a week, but my paycheck only has 36-39 hours on it. I get the additional 6-9 hours in cash.
I get discounts on plants and certain gardening items.
I get free legal advice.
Every once in a while I'll get a free breakfast or lunch.
And there have been times when I should have gotten in some kind of trouble, but the local Police were very friendly and understanding. It's good to work for people with connections.

Time and a half, or straight pay when paid in cash?

Straight pay. I don't complain about not getting time-and-a-half because if the OT hours were on the paycheck, I'd see very little difference in weekly income as opposed to getting the cash.
Sounds like your boss could use some free legal advice. As in: "illegal, can get you in trouble".
Norton might need some legal advice, too. The government don't take too kindly to tax evaders.
Regarding benefits, us peons are offered a 10% discount on general merchandise. But since I'm paid just over minimum wage I can't afford general merchandise. So I receive no benefits from the employee discount.
The company offers health insurance and dental but you have to average enough hours to gualify. Funny thing, management always seems to cut our hours just enough to lower our average hours worked so we can't qualify for benefits. The few people who are still full-time are the only ones I know of who actually have the health/dental insurance.
The only benefit I can see is being able to leave the hellhole once I punch out for the day.

I don't want to go.
I get a 10% discount that applies to pretty much anything except low margin, healthy foods(read:anything that lowering the price will get you to buy more while still leaving enough for profit, but I'm not complaining, it's better than nothing)
there's the several affiliate discounts, such as toyota, general motors, ford, chrysler, H&R block, too many to list, if there are any wal mart associates who didn't know about that walmartbenefits.com has a complete list
the insurance is good for retail, but it is still retail
we have ~2000 $4 prescriptions instead of the ~300 for the general public
profit sharing
bereavement pay, holiday pay, vacation after a certain time of service
company will match 15% of the first $1800/yr you spend on their stock
pizza for 90 days accident free, grilled steaks for 210 days
My work is quite amazing. Simply put, we make over $7 billion a year in profits and our company tends to keeps things around the office fairly nice.
Unlimited sodas/coffee
Free chips/candy/cereal bars
Next business day after closing, they cater lunch from any amazing place they deem is good enough (we're not talking McDonalds here)
Great insurnace benefits
Very nice base salaries ($15/hr for all new clerks is normal)
401k (contribute 3% even if you don't put anything in)
Best job I've ever had. In the past two years I've worked here, I've received a 4% raise the first year, and a 6% the next.
Oh, yeah, how did I forget this one: the company pays for the vehicle I drive for them plus all the fuel.
Oddly enough, the cars they get these days are Prius hybrids. The vans they get are Sprinters... not the most fuel efficient thing on the road, but pretty good considering what it's moving around.
