I don't think the Dr. Demento Christmas CD would go down too well with some of our clientele, though.
Too bad, it's a great CD

I don't like stations that play ALL Christmas music either, unless it's SiriusXM since they have so many channels to choose from. My favorite local broadcast station probably plays at least 3 or 4 regular songs to every holiday song they play so it's not so bad.

We sell the music to our customers, but don't play it ourselves.

No Christmas music in my workplace yet. Hell, I even had a hard time finding anything on the radio. Couple years back there was on station that played it in October. They were changing formats in the beginning of the year. I don't know what was so urgent that they had to stop whatever their format was for three months.
I would have a nice day, but I have other things to do.

I said upthread that we didn't have Christmas carols at work because our sound system was borked. Well, my manager found a way around that. She had me load up her personal collection of Christmas carols on one of the unused pcs in the lobby and point the speakers into the lobby. She said it was just for Cookie Day (AKA Seniors Day, AKA the day that Social Security checks arrive), and I hope she sticks to that. I don't think I could survive 3 weeks of "country Christmas classics."

Not a bad prospect. I am not afraid. In the meantime, let me close my eyes and sense the beauty around me. And take that breath under the dark sky full of stars. Breathe in. Breathe out. That's all."

How many versions of "Jingle Bell Rock" have to be on rotation before it's considered torture? I must have heard at least 5 last night -_-

Christmas on the radio starts, when I choose to put the radio on the station that plays Christmas carols.....

However, the FIRST WEEKEND of NOVEMBER mom and I were out shopping for the trip to Vegas for hers and dad's 21st annv. and they were already playing Christmas music, granted it was interspersed with other "top 40 hits" but still - I looked at Mom and asked her if she knew who I needed to complain to, b/c that was crap - Respect the Turkey (damnit) she loled me off, thinking I wasn't serious - and while I didn't complain (b/c I didn't want to say something to someone not in a position to do anything about it) it still irritated me, as a shopper, I can only imagine how bad it has to be for the workers....

when i worked at a christmas store (christmas all year round!) I switched all the music to instrumental only - Fantasia played in my head instead of the Nutcracker..... lol

anything after the first version IS torture (AND THAT might be pushing it a little). I know every artist/songster wants to have their own "personal" take on a song. some are OK to good but most IMHO SUCK (yes ater 8 weeks of continous short play list Christmas music I get a little stabby)

I think I might bring in some of my CDs: Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Celtic, Mannheim Steamroller, etc. I don't think the Dr. Demento Christmas CD would go down too well with some of our clientele, though.
I've got most of those and Straight No Chaser and Brian Setzer. I need to get Billy Idol's to go with "Yelling at the Christmas Tree" from "Devil's Playground". Twisted Sister's Christmas album is surprisingly good, too!

That goes for "Last Christmas", too. The best and only should be Wham! And I hate to say this, but I think "Glee" ruined it.

Ours started on either November 30th or December 1st, I'm not sure which day. What really annoys me is they even play them on 3rd shift when no one is here and the building isn't even open.

Whenever we put them on in the truck. Just kidding. Anyway, at my old job they started mixing them in after Halloween and then switched to them completely four days before Thanksgiving. My old Wally World didn't play any music.

Most of our muzak (no idea if it's controlled from a central server at Corp or at the store level) seems to be those horrible pop 'covers' of otherwise okay songs. I have yet to hear the Justin Boober abomination that apparently exists...I know it's only a matter of time though

At good ol' "wrong store, wrong price" they started playing carols the day after thanksgiving. It was fine the first few days, but now they can go diaf. And also, they are playing a bunch of spanish songs (i call them songs due to the fact that, with my very limited knowledge of the spanish languages, most of them don't really sound like they are christmas songs) which wouldn't be that bad, IF we had a predominantly spanish speaking customer base.

Maybe they just want any burglars to take what hey want and GTFO in a hurry before they figure out where you keep the *really* valuable items (in The Back, of course ), by driving them insane.

Last Christmas, I gave you my heart...gah. I think I have heard every version of that one. I can't remember which songs we have multiples of, but I kind of hate all of them right now.

We don't have music at all, unless you count the stuff coming out the CD endcap displays. Don't hate me.
