One solution as a pre-emptive strike:

Post some "Customer Parking ONLY" and "Staff Parking ONLY" signs around.

And, of course, make sure the staff only sign for the bait shop as far from the front door.

A number of shops near where I live do exactly that, they have the staff parking a decent distance from the shop, keeping the best spots near the shop for the customers - but to make up for the fact that the staff parks are so far from the shop, they also tend to have better lighting and security cameras for the peace of mind of the staff (this isn't the "rule of thumb" but is something I've seen on more than once occasion)

It goes back and forth. She says there will be a sign up tomorrow designating it as bait store parking only.
What a jerk. I was going to say "ban her" but she's an employee. However I would suggest having words with the owner of the other store about her harassing your customers.

Perhaps they will put up a sign of "customer parking only".

Where I use to work, the front lot was for customers only. My first day there they let me slide, but told me I had to park in the next lot over. Although to be honest I didn't exactly mind… the company lot was designed to make it hard to leave I think. It was easier to get in and out of the side lot, even if it meant I had to walk for a minute or two. Sometimes when I go back to shop, I still park in the side lot because of that, although if my BF is parking he'll use the main lot usually.

Plus, it's not like I've never had long walks from parking lots. At my second ship, the "crew parking lot" (lot for E6 & below) was about a half mile from the ship. So, going to work we had to factor in a good 10-15 minute walk, depending on how fast we wanted to get in.

At my store's old location, we had to park behind the strip mall from Black Friday to Christmas Eve so customers could have more spaces. Yes, it was inconvenient to have to walk that far; on the other hand, I preferred driving through the loose, uneven gravel of the back lot to playing Dodge Car with lunatic Christmas shoppers in the paved front lot!

Even during the slow time of year, we parked in the furthest row away from the store. The customers get the better spaces, I thought every retail worker understood that. Why can't BaitGirl get that through her thick head? I do hope her boss gives her hell about her attitude.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

At the Mart of Hell, the lot at side of the building on grocery side was for employees. Come the Christmas rush, we were "encouraged" to park in what used to be the Bud's old lot before it got decimated to grow a super center. Still required us to go out the grocery door, but, at least we didn't have to play live-action Frogger with senile old rich biddies or drunken hicks.

Those idiots would mow down the decorative rocks at the end of the "isles," so imagine what they'd do to a human being!

Her car should be towed or crushed. Then she'd know that walking the puny 5 feet would be MUCH better than <Psycho Bitch thought>(gasp!) TAKING PUBLIC TRANSIT!</Psycho Bitch thought>

I actually don't mind taking public transit, though I know that she would.

If PB has enough time to bitch at people parking for a different business then her store is clearly not busy enough to warrant the statement that they "need that parking." If you needed it, you would be so busy dealing with customers that you wouldn't have the time to sit out on the sidewalk harassing people.

She would never survive where I work... you have to register your vehicle with HR (and they do check if you are honest about that, if security sees you getting in and out of a car other than the one that you have registered on a regular basis, words will be had), and if they catch a car registered to an employee outside of the employee lot, even if they aren't on the clock, it will be towed (even off the clock, we use employee parking, the attitude is, and I can understand it, you aren't paying full price, so you aren't going to get the full service). Oh, and the employee parking is litterally the furthest section of the second furthest lot and the second furthest section of the furthest lot (I like the symetry )

What the hell, I can't believe they're allowed to do that. If you're off the clock they shouldn't care.

I gather from smiley's post that he and his fellow employees get a discount to stay/play at the resort. I agree that if you aren't paying the full price that a regular customer is, some concessions should be made to that regular customer. We get discounts on our food at work, and I'd rather see the people coughing up fifty bucks get their food into the oven before the stuff my boss is barely breaking even on.

To get into employee parking, do you need your employee ID? If so, what happens in the case where an employee's roommate (or a visiting relative) borrows the employee's car while the employee is off the clock, and does business at the workplace? You'd have a customer who couldn't get into the employee lot, didn't get any employee discounts, but would get towed .

Employee parking is open access. Literally the distinction between the employee lot and the guest lot is a blue line painted on the ground and a sign saying "employee parking beyond this point"
And as far as a friend borrowing my car and coming to where I work... well, that isn't a problem, there is an unwritten but universally understood rule, you don't go into a resort that friends work at without them. Two reasons, one you'd be a fool to go there without them, because you can share their discount if you are with them. Second, it helps prevent any appearances of inpropriety. There are a lot of contests that family and friends of employees aren't eligible to enter, along with other ways that an employee could use an outsider to scam the resort, and it helps security be put at ease if they only see you together and only in places and doing activities that aren't in violation of your contract rules.

What if you have to drive your spouse's car one day? Or have a loaner/rental because your car is at the mechanic's being worked on?

I think the key words in that quote are "regular basis", so the loaner car shouldn't give as much trouble. Though you should give a heads up if that happens.
