  • The things I've learned from this site.

Let me say here I found this place through Notalwaysright and from that alone was kinda where I'd swear to myself I'd at least bear no ill will towards an employee. I think with that alone I've probably surpassed that of most people my own age of 17. Hell, probably even the adults that I see people ranting about on this site.

When I came across Customers Suck? I got the employees' view that I didn't get from Notalwaysright. Seriously guys, I pretty sure these sites have kinda molded me.

I got to test that a couple days ago at the new Mickey D's down the road from my school. Had me, my brother, his friend all driving home when we decided that hey, it was Friday and we'd celebrate the end of the week with some McFlurries, my treat.

Brother's friend decides he doesn't want anything. So literally the entire order consists of two M&M McFlurries. Simple right?

    It took 20 freaking minutes.

I had to take the boys back to their homes or both of their moms would be yelling at me, one of whom could ground me for a month if she chose to.

They weren't that busy, probably 3 people who were ordering. But I noticed people were getting their huge orders before we were, even though I had ordered first.

Now comes the part I'm rather proud of.

I didn't scream at the poor girl behind the register, hell, she had a job, more than what I had accomplished because I can't get my lazy ass up to apply anywhere. (Well not entirely true, a position I want at a craft store only takes high school graduates, I'm waiting until then...) and she was only a few years older than me.

I simply shot her a confused look when I saw a family of 7 pick up their meals before me. Even though they'd ordered after I had.

5 minutes later the lady comes back with two Oreo McFlurries. I didn't pitch a fit about it, and simply said I had ordered M&M. She ended up remaking the ice cream, and ended up giving me the Oreo ones for free seeing as how they were going to go to waste.

That meant the M&M McFlurries for me and my brother, Oreo one for his friend who didn't want to inconvenience me with buying him ice cream, and then the last one to take home to my little sister!

Now I never said the words, "I'm never coming back here again" even though that was definitely the case; service was bad, employees sat around talking, and I've decided that not even the ice cream is worth going to McDonald's for.

Did I cuss out the employees? Nope. Did I complain about the food? No (It's freaking McDonald's all of their food is crap!). Did I demand my money back? No.

And trust me, for waiting so long and still keeping a smile on my face even after all of that time they messed up my order, I'm not even sure how I managed it.

But seriously I'm never going back to that McDonald's again. No really.

Wow. I really don't like ordering from McDonald's. 9 out of 10 times, it will take forever, or they will screw it up somehow. The breakfast is great, and I like their chicken sandwiches. Have to admit though, I never had as much of a problem as I have since I moved here. The fast food joints in my area are notoriously horrible.

You're more patient than I would have been. We don't yell or anything, we just drive away. It's not worth the headache.

I have lost count on the number of times I do something, like order something simple, like a single large coke, and wait 10 minutes for it, meanwhile, others have ordered after me, and gotten their orders ahead of mine. This was at a wal-mart Mickey-D's. Even then, I had to say something after that long wait.

There's only one LEGITIMATE explanation I could think of, but even if that was the case, McDonalds could have handled it better. Did any of the huge orders that were placed after yours but served first contain ice cream (flurries, cones, or sundaes - shakes don't really count)? If not, it might have been a case of they'd JUST dumped a bag of mix into an empty ice cream machine, and it hadn't chilled enough to be able to serve ice cream. Still, if that had happened, after taking your order and finding they couldn't make the flurries, they should have told you "We just put a fresh batch of mix into the ice cream machine, and it won't be ready to make your flurries for X minutes - do you want to wait, or do you want to cancel your order?" Knowing the reason for a delay can make it less upsetting (i.e. "They CAN'T make my order yet, but they can make those other orders", vs. "I ordered before those SOBs, and they're getting served FIRST").

D'as is not how McDonald's ice cream machines work. Milkshakes and anything made with ice cream come out of the same machine, using the same mix, from the same reservoir. As soon as they put a bag of ice cream "mix" (which is a liquid) into the machine they can make ice cream.

This is how they save money. They keep the ice cream mix in liquid form and then the machine will either quick freeze it for ice cream, or only semi freeze it for milk shakes.

What is more likely to have happened is that in order to save on their order times, they deleted her order off the order screen, intending to bring it back under review (but the timer it would've shown up as completed with a lower serve time.) They might have just forgotten to bring it back up under review and therefore just forgot about it entirely, or thought it was completed. The McDonald's in my town tended to do that during rush hours so they could keep the metrics good while being able to take enough time to get everyone's orders right and out as fast as they could.

It's so I can get ideas out of my head, I decided to put it in a blog in case people are bored or are curious as to the (many) things in progress.

Sadly, one of the orders WAS EXACTLY THE SAME as mine. Though while it was Oreo. Still two McFlurries. I was so pissed.

I wanted to but with tax, I paid over $5.00 for all of it. I'm a serious penny pincher since I'm unemployed. The money was going to go towards my 3D crystal puzzle collection. (Look them up, they're so cool!) I'll have to wait until Christmas now.

Those are not just neat looking, they are quite reasonable in cost. Now I know what to get my god-sprogs as stocking stuffers! Even the 25 year old would like them. [I traditionally get them each their own specific American Girl Doll and their 'stuff', which will continue for the younger ones a few years yet, but this will help fill in the little gaps for the less expensive stuff]

Not while I was working at one ('91-2000) There were two separate chambers in the machine, and two separate mixes. One shake, one ice cream. Just because it's all combined into one machine does not mean they both use the same mix.

I used to work at McDonalds as well (2004-ish era) and it was the same mix for both reservoirs of the machine.

ID:	2030187 are an amazing deal. Most of the 40 piece ones you can buy for $10. These are over 100 pieces and can usually be found for under $25. Given how often I work on my little red rose puzzle, I know I'd spend A LOT of time just working out one like that. The rose one took me two days to figure out the first time. I can only imagine how long it would take with one of the larger ones.

I have a bunch of those on my desk here at work! I started buying them to give me something to do on the slow nights. I have the skull, four-leaf clover, teddy bear, apple, and red rose. I had a star one as well, but when I took it apart to put it back together, I lost one of the pieces.

I also have some of the smaller Lego Architecture sets-- White House, Sungnyemun, Big Ben, the Space Needle, the Guggenheim, Rockefeller Center, and the Sydney Opera House.

I have the red rose and the butterfly. I only work the rose however because the flower that holds up the butterfly is starting to break in several places. I'm wanting to get the pearl oyster and then the castle since I think I'm ready for the challenge. Given how often I work them, I think they're well worth my money. Seeing as how I won't exactly outgrow something like a puzzle like this. Heck, I'll probably take them off to college with me!

There was one icecream place in Virginia Beach that ... I normally loved this establishment cos I had fond memories of them from growing up in NY. However after 2 separate visits to the one in VA, I never went back. Both times because it was slow as fuck. no hissy fit... just never went back after the second time.

although when i went back to NY, I made a point of visiting the one went to as a child. It's gone downhill but the service was fast at least.

This site (and cashier/sandwich artist experience) has molded me well. I rarely complain and am always concious of the SCsor bad day who may have contributed to the bad service. They are human, after all!

That being said, I get that you screwed up by making two Reeses Mcflurries instead of two M&MS. I even get asking my friend and I if we are sure we can't just take those since you're busy. But you should NOT get huffy with my friend (the driver) when she tells you that no, we can't just take them as she is highly allergic to peanuts. I would have happily taken one as it turns out you had one M&M already made, but I don't eat peanuts around her, just in case.

And from the horror stories my friend has told me about places she has to tell about her allergy (mainly ice cream shops)... this was pretty much the lowest level of suck she has dealt with.
