Sabbo, I want to apologise as an American to an Austrailian for all the backwards, projectionist parental logic my country has infected the world with.

If it were me, I would have asked the kid who his parents voted for in the last election, then decided if I was going to sell it to him. Oh well, people are idiots, and it's never their fault, so they take it out on us becuase they know that we can't fight back for fear of our jobs.

Out of curiosity, Sabbo, could you give us examples of each rating? Here in the US, our ratings are like this -

      CA - Children/All (I think that's the letters used)
E - Everybody (Sly Cooper and other platformers)
      T - Teen (Most RPGs, Spider-Man, X-Men)
      M - Mature (Resident Evil 4)
AO - Adults Only (I've never seen one, not made for platforms so far as I know)
GTA:SA was bumped up to an AO, I think (thank you dumbass lawyer)

        Rolling giant balls of poo?

Oh, wait, we already kind of have a hero like that, and I have the utmost respect for him, but the joke is just too obvious now...

yay props to the little prince!!

but for a more obscure refrence, in case no one remembers a controversial game for the N64 called "Conkers bad fur day" there is a dung beetle level and you do have poo rolling capability along with all the icky squishy fart noises you could ever want

and the american lowes rating is EC- Early child hood (usually educational games like winne the pooh for game boy (forget the little kiddies, that game was fun))

          Hahaha!

What I don't understand is why that moron woman thought Spiderman was so bad, I mean it's no worse that TMNT and it's definitely nothing to throw a shit-fit about
I'm just reading into it, but I don't think it would have mattered what the game was. Mom was pissed that someone sold a game to her 6 year old.

I don't think you should have had to follow the stupid woman's instructions. By doing so it gave her power and made you feel like the idiot she was. I hate people who think they own the world.

With people like that woman, I instantly become Super-Duper Rule-Following Employee Man. Whatever it is they want, if there is any kind of rule that would prevent me from following their demands, even if I would normally do it for a good customer, I'm not doing it for them.

For example, at the cable company where I work, a customer has 30 days from the date of the bill to dispute any charges. If they are nice about it, and I can see that either we were clearly in the wrong or we could possibly be at fault, I'll bend the rule and give them the credit. If they're mean about it, or demand it from me, the rule is the rule is the rule. "I'm sorry, but it's been 31 days and I can not credit that," and they're passed on to a supervisor if they ask for one.

For this woman, I would have probably told her that I am not allowed to leave my department, and since refunds are not processed at my register, she would need to go up front (which was true when I worked at Wally-World, don't know about where you are). As an alternative, I'd have probably told her that only the Customer Service desk personnel can process refunds, and since I don't work at that desk, I can't process a refund for her (which has been true everywhere in retail that I worked). If it was a place like Wal-Mart that requires a signature and checks ID, that would be the reason.

Long story short, I did my job correctly, Ms. SC, and I will not go above and beyond my job description to do something that you need to do yourself.

That was probably the Hot Coffee thing, right? Stupid; it's not like anybody can see it just by sticking the disc in the PS2 and playing the damn game.

Nah, only the first edition capable of the hot coffee mod is AO rated. Second edition can't be modded and thus is rated M.

I liked 2 better. I liked the greater freedom you had. You didn't have to constantly stay above street level except at certain points. Plus Bruce Campell seemed to do more voice work for that one, and he's my hero!

Why do parents let their young children wander by themselves? Does anyone have a theory that sounds even slightly plausible?

Because the child will be closely supervised by all the employees in the store. They will know exactly who that child's parent is and will do everything to make sure that the child does not leave the store with another adult. The child will be just fine, just fine.

                            Riiiiiight.

                            a) The store is not a day care
                            b) The store can be hazardous for a curious, unsupervised child
                            c) Just because one employee sees you with your child does not mean that all employees know who that child's parent is. If a woman brings a child in, and a man leaves with the child, most employees will assume that it's Daddy.

Of course, any person who suspects a child is being taken by a stranger will do what they can, but there is little chance of an employee having observe the situation enough to determine this.

                            d) The employees are more concerned with adults who can provide revenue to the store than with children roaming around.

A lot of the malls around here now have kid places where you can drop your kid off while you shop. Of course, you have to pay for this, but at least it's an option. So, really, there is no excuse for doing this.

Yep, the woman shouldn't have let that a young child wander alone and thinking he won't get pick up by some pervert but yet yell at Sabro for selling a game. I know I hate to see little kids alone in stores and especially where I work. It's rarely a problem but it does happen.

Anyway this thread reminds me about another thread a couple hacks ago and it wasn's in a store but at movie theatre. I can't remember who wrote it but it was similar situation but instead kid was dropped off at movies and when his mother picked him up she couldn't find him then asked the writer if he did. Anyway she got pissed that they weren't looking for him and well, she did find up. The writer saw them together and realize the boy was only 6 or 7 which shocked pretty much everyone.
