  • Insistant Customer

Yesterday, a customer insisted that the cereals he got were a certain price. I checked and it turned out that they were. The amount never came off at the register for some reason even though he bought the correct amount of cereals. I refunded the amount owed to the customer at the service desk.

Are we missing part of the story here?

I ask because I'm not seeing the suck factor here.

Perhaps it was in the way that the customer was insisting.
In the end, he was right, but maybe he was rude in the way he made his point?
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

He was very insistant about the price and even went with me to where the sign was. It turned out that he was right but originally had an attitude about it.

purplecat, you are lovely, but way too mellow and don't exude much in the way of enthusiasm or interesting stories. Don't be afraid to include more details and just let yourself go a bit more, we don't bite.

Indeed! We are not afraid of the details. We've ALL been there and we've ALL wished we could have a few minutes alone with them and a nice large clue-by-four.

I hate that, but you know that when they're right you have to suck it up eventhough it's not your fault.

Thankfully! Eesh. I don't think anyone would be able to go to work, or make it a full day without inflicting drastic pain if we made it into work, if we had to put up with that each day!

sometimes its the small yet frequent sucky customer habits that are the worst, it wears you down over time and makes you want to go postal at randome times

you always act really professionaly and calmly in your stories, I wish I had your patience!

I'm sorry if the tone of my last post was seen as a behind the back slight against Purplecat. That was not my intent. The intent behind the post was to agree with Cominatcha and to help encourage Purplecat to not be afraid of giving us the full story with all of the gory details intact.

Again Purplecat, I am sorry. I was a bit rushed and didn't take the time to read my post out loud to check the tone of it.

Well, for the record, I get these every day to the point that it's just vanilla to me. Just a combo of attentive customers and store laziness.

Yesterday, one of the checkers asked for an override and on the way over there a customer stopped me and wanted me to check something with her.
I informed her that I needed to take care of the checker and she wanted to know why.
I told her that I needed to override him and she reluctantly let me do it.

I did the override so the checker could continue to check customers out and I went to help the customer.
The customer insisted that the cans she was getting were buy 1 get 1 free even though the sign showed a higher price.
She even wanted a certain can and kept telling me that the cans were not right.

Eventually, I got the cans she wanted.
I rang up the items at the price she wanted.

I had been told when I was training at the service desk that if a customer was insistent to give them what they want.
The customer's husband wanted me to take down the confusing sign which I ended up doing and I put the sign near the printer.
