  • I LOVE lying SC's

Then again I think I might be repeating myself using the term "lying" to describe SC's...

So, I get called into the back today because corporate got a complaint and sent it down to our store--they are "very concerned" about the "incident". Apparently some dipshit with a vendetta is claiming that I THREW product at him, and he is offended and wants an apology in addition to me being fired (seriously). I had no idea what my manager was talking about until he mentioned what the guy had bought (this SC only sticks out in my head because he literally almost had me in tears--and I don't cry in public, ever).

The REAL story which is what I told my manager, numerous other people have gone to my managers to back up, and what he said he told my DM:

Crazy Guy and his friend come into the store to see if their order is in. They have been coming in Every. Single. Day. even though we tell them we'll call them when it comes in---they feel the need to check "because they're here everyday anyway" (these guys seriously have no life). The order box has just come off the truck and their orders are in as of 10 minutes before.
Me: "ok sir, here's your order"
SC: "WHY DIDN"T ANYONE CALL ME!?"
Me: "because it just came in the shipment 15 minutes ago"
SC: "you didn't call me--this is bullshit"
Me: "because it just came in the shipment which JUST. ARRIVED" (said this slowly, as I have no figured I am dealing with someone who isn't all there)
SC: "you didn't call--that is poor customer service"
Me: "if it didn't just come in we would have called you tomorrow morning"
SC: "you stupid bitch, shut up--you're full of bullshit" (to friend)--"this dumb bitch says that they would have called us, isn't that crap? You know they wouldn't have"

Security guy comes over at this point and wants to know if everything is ok. I tell him I'm dealing with it but he stays a few feet away just in case.

*At this point I am fuming and ready to refuse the sale and make my manager deal. I ignore him, continue on--this was the big mistake*

SC: "you're so stupid--give me my *product*
Me: "thee you go sir, have a FABULOUS day" *sets bag gently on the sensor to deactivate--hopes this guy goes away*
SC: "whatever" snatches bag, huffs off

Later that day he calls the store and complains that I was ignorant and lied to him about the status of his order. Whatever. We get lots of wackos calling everyday because someone looked at them the wrong way. It's the nature of the beast mall/area that I work in--entitlement central.

A few days pass, he calls the store---has a HUGE list of things he wants looked up. As this SC has the Worst Taste Ever most of it is not in stock...then the conversation goes like this:
    SC: Is this Ad_Astra
Me: yes, this is she--who is this
SC: you don't know who this is?
    Me: no, who is this
SC: I came in the other day for *product* and you we ignorant, I'm surprised you still work there stupid bitch, you'll get yours...
    Me: hold, please

I make the manager take the rest of the call. They report no problems with him.

Now this stupid corporate complaint comes in. He's after my head, apparently. Like I said he lied and said I threw product at him, that I was ignorant to him, that I lied about his order status---and that he wants me "severely disciplined".
My manager called and talked to him--his words "you can tell he's not all there, don't worry, but I have to let you know you're probably going to get an official write-up for this, even though you and (other employee) say it never happened". He told my DM that I'm one of their best associates, been with the company for almost a year, meet and exceed my sales goals consistently (top 3 in the store all the time), no complaints from management about attitude/attendance/etc. Basically that what this guy is saying doesn't match up at all with what I am. Even with that I'm probably going to get written up because of this dickless wonder. I want a manager position at some point and write-ups hinder that...

My job got a major hours cut and already fired five people for not meeting sales goals---now I'm worried I'll be fired because of a complaint like this coming through corporate.

If the write-up comes through I'm thinking about refusing to sign it---although apparently that's an admission of guilt.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't....
I need a new job. One which involves minimal contact with the public.

Written up for stuff that he made up? That doesn't make sense! So they're going to take his word over yours??
So whatever you DON'T SIGN the write up. Sounds like they're trying to bend over backwards to kiss that jerk's ass.

How is NOT signing an admission of guilt? What the hell is up with that?

NOT signing says "I don't agree with this".

Apparently this is how it is at my company. As I've had no previous write-ups (and want to keep it that way--we're a "three strikes you're out" kind of place, and I'm NOT getting a write-up for something I didn't do) I'm just going with what I've heard from people who have.
Every day I more and more start to believe that my the company I work for is one of the Most Awesome Ever (note dripping sarcasm)..some of my other posts attest to this..

I would so find out where that guy lives.....

And because we're not allowed to make threats on here, I'd send him pretty flowers, a box of chocolates and a christmas card every year.

          Yes, I'm lying.

If you get a write up out of his lie I wonder if you would be able to sue him for it. If it will hinder your abilities to get a management position and you have witnesses to his crazyness.

I would sue him in small claims court for it myself. But then again I am a vindictive person

Gotta love brainwashed corporate suits who've been whipped into believing that every customer is worth retaining and every customer complaint is automatically the gospel truth, regardless of what actually happened.

Based on some of the other things you've said about your workplace, such as the thieving manager shorting your pay, I'd be looking for a new job.

That's a good idea, if you can get your coworkers to agree to testify. It would sure as hell drive the point home to this asshole.

The security guard said he would back me up to the end of the earth on this because it just Isn't Right.

Our employee turnover is something like 97%....I wish corporate would start looking into why THAT is as opposed to lies from crazy (literally) customers.

Getting written up isn't the same as being fired. So what happens when freak-boy finds out you still work there? I'd start documenting and getting witness statments NOW because you will want some sort of protection from your employer if/when this escalates. If you continue being hassled, call the cops. This guy sounds scary (I could be overreacting, but I got pretty uncomfortable reading this post, right after "father entitlement")
A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)

Gotta love corporate office idiots that will ALWAYS take the customers side instead of their employees, no matter how long they have worked there or how good that employee is. I don't care if they think its an admission of guilt, do not sign that write-up. I would have hung up on them after the 1st warning for cursing on the phone anyway. I've done it before.

I agree with documenting everything in case you need to take him to court. He's guilty of libel. If possible, get a copy of the complaint letter.

You know, the more I read the stories here, the more I think someone needs to write a book.

You must work for one of them "The customer is always right" companies huh?

Because I can't imagine any others would give you a write up over that.

Ive had to write a couple people up and with our company and theres a section where you are allowed to write your side of the story and why you dont agree with the wrire up. Please do it does matter! That way its in your file that this guy complained to HQ but this is your side. As for them fireing you why? Your numbers sound great and your doing a great job like it sounds then dont worry if they are dumb enough to get rid of you your compition will take you in with open arms. Pluse this incedent wont follow you ya know.
