We have people that come in all day and night getting $1 to $5 each time.. ALL NIGHT LONG!#@!$#!@ Pisses us off..
Think that is bad, I have never understood this, but I would get tons of people putting 50 or 75 cents. At $3.00 a gallon 50 cents is going to get you nowhere.

$1? Wow! That would barely get anyone a quarter of a gallon. Sometimes I put in $10, and that's only good for a couple of days. $5 used to get me longer than that, back when it was 88 cents a gallon.

The $1 reminds me of the school girls I saw once, back 20 years ago, who scrounged up $1 in pennies, nickels, and dimes, and purchased gas that 7-11. The clerk was pissed to handle a handful of change like this, mainly because it was four girls going back and forth, digging out coins from their pockets, their shoes, their purses, even going back and forth from the car to get this money.

Maybe our oil will run out faster than it should, because of this.

We have a full size truck that we just can't afford to drive anymore. $75 a week (when it was like $3.15). And then my car is about $30-$35 a week. My fiance has a motorcycle for the summer, which saves our asses. The gas for the bike, the insurance and the payment is actually cheaper than gas in the truck! I'm actually getting one this summer, too, because we just can't afford the gas anymore!
"What size can I get you, ma'am?"
          "Red."
"Okay...I'll check the red for you, but what size do you need?"
          "RED!"
          "..."

y'alls doing better than me... granted utah has cheap gas (last fill up was $3.15 about a week ago) but even then I'm having to take the bus 3 days a week to be able to afford to fill my tank (i drive a versa)... the problem with utah is that while gas is cheap, it's cheap because they don't oxegynate it enough for the high altitude and gas milage is lower here than elsewhere (when I am visiting reno where they do oxegynate the gas I get 3 to 5 miles per gallon more than in salt lake)

Last time I bought gas, it was around $3.20. Now it's around $3.30. I'm not too worried, mainly because I get about 35-45mpg in the Corolla, and (hopefully) around 25mpg in the MG. A full tank lasts about a week and an half...mainly because I don't go out much, and if I do, I combine trips.

I have a neighbor, who has a huge Ford pickup..that hasn't moved since last Christmas. Seriously--he hasn't touched it since then, mainly because of the fuel costs. Rather than go bankrupt, he bought a little Honda.

I need to find a new day to get gas. It was $3.19 up until Monday this week.

Anyway, Venom, I feel for you. I had a lot of "special" customers who did that same thing. They'd show up anywhere between 2-3 times per shift (so in 8 hours) getting between $1-5 in gas and a pack of cigarettes. Never bought any more than 1 or 2 packs at a time, and never filled their entire tank.

Just let them do it. It's annoying, but it makes sense to them. One thing I have learned, from retail and now from training total drooling breathing pieces of flesh, it doesn't do a dense person a service to try to correct them or explain logic to them. They don't understand.

It bugs me the most to hear politicians say haw they are concerned about high fuel prices, when gas is traded on the NYMEX @ about $2.60 a gallon, then the taxes (they they have the power to change) in imposed to add about $0.50/GAL. Gas stations and oil companies make very little money on gas sales because of the high cost of the product they are selling or refining.

We tell them no on anything under $1. We use to say no to anything under $5 but seems the boss/owner lost some of his backbone.

People love to complain about the price of gas going up. Then they whine that the oil companies make too much money. All of this without realizing that the oil companies make $.25 a gallon while the government makes over $.50 a gallon. Of course the people doing the complaining are usually the ones driving a vehicle that gets 12mpg.

                            $4.98 in Bethel, Alaska

they have to fly it in on a tanker airplane though

cheapest gas in the state is $3.16 in Anchorage, Alaska taxes the shit out of the oil companies' profits(60%, they can do this because they own the land the companies are drilling on) so the residents pay next to nothing along the the lines of state taxes

Who cares how much a vehicle gets per gallon? Not to start an argument, but, I am tired of hearing people say "Well, stop driving a truck", "you can't complain, you have a SUV" or "get a hybrid" or other such phrases when someone talks about gas prices.

Some people need pickup trucks, just as others need SUVs or minivans. I am looking at getting a Dakota (or something similar) this next go around since I need a vehicle with seating room (and want something to handle IL winters). Should I have any less ability to complain about prices compared to the person who drives a little 4 cylinder Neon? Yeah, it is going to cost me a little more, but, 3.45/gal is the same for both of us.

Just like the people who (sorry for possible offending to some) who keep saying "be lucky, it's more expensive *insert country*". Yes, we all know this. Americans are accostomed to cheaper gas than the current prices. Hence the irritation.

I apologize for this being a little angrier than I had intended.

you don't need a pickup in bloomington(I'm originally from kankakee)

seriously though, the Dakota's a nice truck, I'm looking at getting a Tacoma, because I have friends who's houses I need a truck to get to in spring, and may end up in a cabin in the hills on a dirt road(extra wide ATV trail is more accurate) for cheap rent when i move out of the parents house, and I want to be able to transport ATVs and snowmobiles
