If hitting every red light is poor timing and traffic control then wouldn't not being able to print out the assignment be because of not making sure you used the right version of word. I agree stubbing your two isn't Murphy's law but hitting every red light when your in a rush is.

So in conclusion: Murphy's law only related to user error or technological malfunction. NOT every random misfortune that comes along the pike.

This is definitely Murphy's law territory. Murphy's law is merely this:

Also for the OP, was she scowling or smiling at you when she said it? Because I've seen a similar thing said in a similar situation as a joke (which the cashier didn't get/enjoy).

I felt the exact same way when I was cashiering and someone would complain about the line or having to wait. You had to wait, what, not even five little minutes? And I'll be standing here at this register for another 5-10 hours. No sympathy for you.
