So what's the big deal with large print? I mean, they read the same don't they? I've never noticed any difference, other than maybe turning pages a little more often. Seems silly to complain about it.
And how could he not notice. Aren't large print books longer than the regular print books due to the fact that there is less text per page?

This idjit bought three of the same book and didn't find anything weird about one book being pages longer than the other two, despite all three books containing the same information?
Just because a customer expects you to put some effort into your job, that does not make them an SC.

I don't remember the book being much larger than the other 2, but large print books are usually more expensive than regular ones. Not to mention the words "Large Print" on the spine. And the sticker saying "Large Print" on the cover.

He claimed he sent the book to a friend before he realized his mistake, so if the friend has a problem why don't they just exchange it somewhere? Most bookstores will take back a book as long as their distributor carries it. Ah well, as we've said SC's brains don't work logically.

One advantage to LP books these days is that they've developed a thin yet opaque type of paper (think Bible paper but better [or well I guess Bibles use this kind now]). Back in the day, the thin paper was seethrough and difficult to read, but now it's better. As a result, LP books are generally the same size as regular books.

HOWEVER, it is clear by the cover that they are LP, and they also weigh more (something to do with the density of the paper, I'd assume).

SC 1 probably gets his 3 or 4 books a month for free, because this is probably not the first time he's pulled the "I deserve a free gift card" shit on someone else.

SC 2 was just being difficult, and in the time it took for you, then your manager, to explain the store policy, she could have resolved her issue right then and there by calling the toll free number provided to her.

SC 3 was an ass. That would be like me buying three Stephen King novels and the cashier is supposed to know that I didn't mean to buy "Cujo" when I really wanted to buy "The Tommyknockers".

Anymore, I loathe the customers in book stores, mainly because there are some that cheat the system anyway. Some treat it like a library, others trash the place like they're right at home.

Damn you, Terry Pratchett, for not letting me know you had such an extensive catalogue of books when I first started reading The Color of Magic!
yarrrghhh! I feel ya Juwl! I just finished filling all the holes in the Discworld series. I only needed ten or so, but how can all 32 (34? 35?) books be so darn good? And not formulaic? And of course there're the maps and the kids books and the spin-offs and .........

Back OT, 3-4 a month, I might expect a hassle free return. ESP on the part of my wonderful bookstore employee WITHOUT THE BOOK? Not so much.

Yeah, and the store encourages it with their 'atmosphere'...

I've had customers who bought 3-4 books a week, times 2...

Allow me to introduce you to this chap by the name of P. G. Wodehouse, who happened to be an influence on Mr. Pratchett. If your bookstore doesn't carry his works, try your friendly neighborhood library.

Ahh, Wodehouse! So much fun! So enjoyable! And the books can be rather economical when considering weight per dollar.

The latest League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Black Dossier graphic novel has an amusing bit that is presented as if P.G. Wodehouse wrote an Cthulhu-esque encounter.

*twitch* Thank you very much. I now have mental whiplash. Do you have any idea how hard that is to treat? Chiropractors & psychiatrists won't touch it.
