  • Sucky on so many levels

On a dining forum last night, one where people give resturant reveiws, and when I read this post I nearly screamed. It is the epitome of people having a bitch and a moan because they have outrageous expectations

"Well, well, well, yet more bad service at The Loaded Hog in Wellington. Will they ever learn? I somehow doubt it.
I had my wedding reception at The Loaded Hog at the end of March, and the service was terrible. In fact, we wrote a 4 page letter to them full of complaints, and have yet to hear back from them after 3 weeks. Very poor service still."

    The issues I have are...

The Loaded Hog is a chain of bars here in NZ. The kind of place you go to get pissed to bits as a student. The food is nachos and fries typical deep friend bar food.

What kind of person has their wedding recepetion at the Loaded Hog??!!! Seriously. I'll tell you. A completely fucked in the head kind of person.

A four page complaint letter. I'd pay money to see that. I can just imagine what was in it. Actually the reason it ran to 4 pages was because he did it in crayon.

If you want to make your wedding recepetion special have it in a nice place. I mean what the hell did you expect.

She was probably pissed because the restaurant stole her husbands' pet name for her.

Or the local sports bar, or Buffalo Wild Wings, or some place like that.

Lucky you! I don't know about other franchise locations, but down here in Texas, the franchise owner (franchises across West Texas and Louisiana) are currently remodeling their locations and taking the salad bars out, and having the waitresses pre-make salads each morning.

I fail to see the suck here. This woman had her wedding reception ruined by bad service, and management did not even respond to her letter. She has every right to be upset.

What gives anyone here the right to be judgmental about her choice of location? Not everyone can afford a huge catered affair or a fancy restaurant for their wedding. So what if she had it at a bar? Obviously that's what she decided on, and I'm sure she had her reasons.

Honestly, there is no reason to be a snob and make rude comments about someone's choice of restaurant. I had a catered wedding reception and then I had an afterparty for my guests at a local bar and grill that served greasy bar food. I guess that makes me a bad person, or semi-bad!

I managed a two page letter of complaint about a coffee table once.

I wasn't being unreasonable it was that bad. (A flat pack piece of furniture my mother had bought and I decided to assemble as a surprise while cat sitting. I was staggered by the ugliness and quite relieved when it turned out to be so badly made it was literally impossible to put together. It was also expensive. She did get her money back).

I guess there is a bit of judgement here - but I do think it is legitimate to at least question where an SCs expectations are unreasonable. I'll happily go for the cheap options for many things (which is lucky as I don't have money for many of the expensive options) but I do understand what standard I'm getting. (Which brings me back to the coffee table - for £20 I wouldn't have objected to visible marking up on the underside, somewhat misshapen screws, etc - but for £95 I did).

No not at all. And after party at a bar is more than fine. In fact probably quite sensible. I do believe people set unrealistic expectations. This chain is renowned for awful food and even worse service. I have no doubt the person who had their reception there might have had a good time stumbling around drunk and dancing the night away in the past, but not for a wedding reception.
