Ack! I'm sooooo sorry. EVERYBODY RUN! My illness is contagious through the intarwebs!

*hugs* Hope you don't get the side effects I did (enlarged spleen -and- liver) and that you get better fast. Rest lots and try to drink a lot of water/juice and eat some soft foods and soups.

I've never had Mono either. My Mom did when she was dating my father. He helped her to the bathroom twice a day (before and after work) and made sure she had plenty of juices to drink. I think it was then that Mom knew she wanted to stay with him for a long ass time (i.e. Marriage).

I haven't had Mono yet, I doubt I will. (watch me get Mono next week! )

        Glad you are getting treatment.

That guy is just a straight out jerk. He confirmed it hurt to talk, so he wanted to make you talk as much as possible for his own amusement. It would have made him feel like a big man to inflict pain on someone else. I would also be willing to bet he didn't buy a system either.

Sorry to hear you have mono - I know is sucks. My daughter had it in 8th grade and she missed about 6 weeks of school. I always wondered when she was sick, if she was really sick or just wanting a day or so to veg. But when she had mono, I knew she was SICK. I would get home from work to a dead silent house. No TV, no stereo... just her asleep in her bed. She slept about 22 out of 24 hours. Some days, she would feel up to going to school but then the guidance counselor would call me at work to let me know that she really should not have tried and that she was on her way home. It took months for her to get back to 100%. Hope you get better much more quickly

I am so sorry you have to have mono...it SUCKS. I got it (luckily just after I graduated college, before I got a job) and was useless for 8 straight weeks. My mom claims that one day I slept 23 hours and 40 minutes. It was horrible. When I was getting better (about week 6) my throat hurt. BADLY. I couldn't eat because I couldn't swallow, it hurt so much.

Luckily I am approaching 30 and it is rare for people over 30 to get it (there are two viruses that cause mono and while you can't get the same virus again, you can relapse or contract the other virus).

              Mononucleosis

Never had it, myself.. but it doesn't sound fun at all.
              Thanks for that.

and now I've got the Monorail song from the Simpsons stuck in my head, despite the fact that I'm playing a recording of a Count Basie concert.
