"Friendly" visit

Surprisingly I have never had to turn away a job for being offensive. Now granted the only 3 reasons I would turn away a job would be Illegal such as child porn or porn that they could not supply the proper waivers and the custodial chain proof of age. The 3rd reason would be for copyrighted materials, and this is the only reason that I have yet to turn any job away so far.

And this really shocks me since my bread and butter is CD and DVD Duplication. Its only happened a couple of times in 9 years. I do a fair amount of duplication work for musicians who are the copyright holder though (its nice to deal directly with the smaller artists).


Edit: Slightly OT but still belongs... I used to have a couple of clients that would bring me jobs and tell me that I may want to be the one to do them personally due to the content. What was the content you may ask.....Murder scene photos and Autopsy Pics. Some pretty gruesome stuff to, but at least they were cool enough to let me know so I wouldn't have to put any of my employees thru that at the time (I was the kind of manager who would personally deal with those types).

Anyone else had to deal with something offensive like that where there was no real easy way out without having the 'discrimination' card turned against them or other 'reverse discrimination' type issues?

I don't get the dang term "reverse discrimination. If you are purple and discriminate against blue...that is Discrimination. If Blue discriminates against purple, it is STILL JUST Discrimination.

Technically reverse discrimination should be extremely and overly nice to the person.

I always thought of reverse discrimination as being someone who is of one race and discriminating against someone else who is also thst same race.

Well, actually, if the kicker then turns up murdered, you may well get a visit from the police. But that's not very likely, I would hope.

I don't know about the KKK thing, though. I would certainly call the cops if I ever found one of those at my house, and would likely make them copy it themselves, as well. It's just enough to make me nervous.

Our Kinko's was a short putt from the heart of the local Klan territory, and I can remember one of my best pals refusing service on a guy who came in with racist propaganda. She was very polite, but told him she wasn't going to take his job and why. Amazingly, he was very polite back and went out and did his job in self serve. I guess it wasn't the first time someone refused his job.

I've done a fair bit of research on the KKK and other white supremacist groups, there are quite a few out there who intelligent, polite, kind people who realise that their views are not accepted by all and offend some people, however it's the sceaming rednecks and skinheads who get the most coverage, same as any other group, it's the annoying loud ones who stereotype the whole group.

A girl I knew that worked in photo development told me she never once had something objectionable brought in, however she had some extremely amusing photo's some times. I don't believe I've ever been in a situation where I was offended and refused service, guess I've got lucky.
