The picture makes it look worse than it actually is. It's actually a very light shade of blue. It hurts, but it's not swelling because of the ibprofen and the ice I am using often. I don't think I'll lose the nail, it didn't crack and it's not raising.

Draftermatt is right. A "sterilized" safety pin/sewing needle works too (just run it over a lighter). Just stick it right through the nail. Makes it feel a sh!t load better. The blood that built up, now has a way to get out.

Now for some more do it yourself surgery.........

      LOL.

        Okay, you guys seriously rock.

You made me concerned enough about my toe to try the draining trick.

I got a safety pin and a candle. I repeatedly heated it up, and dug a tiny hole in the lower right corner of the nail. I did it again and again...

then I hear a small hiss...

and it starts bleeding like crazy! I force what I can out....

AND MY TOE FEELS SO MUCH BETTER. There is still a bit of blood in it, but I can reopen the hole when it starts to build up again. The color is almost completely back to normal too~!

        THANK YOU GUYS!!!!

        You saved my nail!

the man, maybe 6 and a half feet tall, SLAMS my 5 ft tall female coworker to the GROUND, and they make a break for the door. The female coworker screams, "Oh HELL NO," and books it after him!
          lol I love that part.

          I hope everything gets better.
