Yeah, when I was at the airport in Australia they had the beagles that were trained to sniff out quarantined items.

They were so cute, but I had to resist the urge to pet the one that checked out my bag, because I knew he was trained to be focused on the job. The handlers seemed very strict and kept the dogs controlled and focused, and I figured I would probably upset things if I got in the way.
Too tired of living and too tired to end it. What a conundrum.

Animals are always coming up to me. I do not mind it.

Just yesterday, while I was with my parents and brother, in JamesTown, CA, at the railway museum. While on the number 28 train, There was a little girl about 3, keep on coming over to me and grabbing onto my hands, calling me daddy.

At the Pennsylvania RenFaire this summer, I decided to do something fun, and get in line for the elephant rides they had. Ahead of me were two little kids, a 5 or 6 year old girl and her younger brother, and their parents. They were disappointed by the fact that both their parents weighed too much to ride with them, and the attendant couldn't let them ride alone. So I volunteered to take them, being tiny.

You should have seen the looks on the kid's faces. They just lit up, especially the girl, and the parents looked greatful. We had a pleasent ride, and for the rest of the Faire, the girl would wave when she saw me, and ran over to hug me a couple times.

Felt good to make their trip to the Faire enjoyable, and that little girl made my week.

            She just liked me

I used to work at a popular resturaunt in the subburbs of chicago. We had just opened and were known to have 3-4 hours wait.

I was working the to go orders and merchandise desk and a family of 3, mom dad and the cutest 3 year old ever were waiting right by me.

I didnt have much to do, so I spent my time talking to the 3 year old, who became very attached to me. She wanted me to pick her up and walk around with her.

Her parents were very cool about it, so when I had to go talk to the manager, get more paper, etc.. I had her attached to my hip.

The cutest part was when they finally got a table.. I walked by and the little girl yelled out my name. I went to give her a hug and she handed me a drawing..

She drew me, but I was super woman

NO FAIR!!! They didn't have elephants when I was there!!! That was over 10 years ago tho. I went to school near there and my Medieval Lit/History of the English Language prof arranged a class trip (at least half of us were in both classes). He dressed as a monk...wearing Tevas sandles

The first time I went to Japan with a class, we travelled up and down the country for different cultural sights (it was a culture study class). A group of us strange-looking gaijin were all on a more rural train heading for the far south. Across the aisle was a mother, who was quietly telling her three year old son in Japanese not to stare.

The rest of the kids (None of the rest of them, except my fiance, really took Japanese language seriously after this trip) just were chattering and talking, loudly and obnoxiously, but I was listening to the woman's conversation with the boy. I was looking at them, and the boy was staring at me.

                  Me: *look*
                  Boy: *Stare*
                  Me: *...smile*
                  Boy: *Stare*

The woman looks up at me and stammers a "S-s-soh-rii" in clumsy English - but the boy starts acting out, and promptly stands up, walks across the way and plops down next to me on the train!

The mother is mortified and starts apologizing profusely. "Ah, doumo sumimasen, sumimasen, ojama shimasu....sumimasen..."

I look down at the little boy in surprise and he's latched onto my side, sticking his tongue out at his mother! The rest of the college kids are staring at me, and the train is silent.

                  What could I do?

So I just laughed and said back in my clumsy (at the time) Japanese, "Daijoubu, daijoubu, kodomo ga daisuki desu yo." It's okay, it's okay, I really like kids.

The little boy rode with me the rest of the way to Hirado. <3

I love kids, always have, so random kids attaching themselves to me is no big deal. When I worked at the sports bar, we would get a family in there every once in awhile and, if I was there, they would always be put in my section because I was good with them.

I had one little girl that would come in with her Daddy every Wednesday night after dance class. She always ordered the same thing and she was just adorable so whenever I had a second, I would go talk to them. The little girl would always hug me before they left. The dad was great too. One day, when I'm picking up their book, the dad tells me to keep the change. And then the little girl pipes up with "I left you something too!" and the dad just smiled. There was an envelope in there with my nickname that everyone at the bar called me written in very kid like writing. Inside was a drawing she had done of a dog and a bunch of change (probably about $2 worth). Apparently she had been saving her change so she could give it to me. I still have that drawing.

My other favorite kid ever was actually my manager's niece. They were in town and came in for lunch one Sunday and my manager asked me specifically to wait on them. Well, her three year old niece took a liking to me and wanted to help. And it wasn't football or March Madness season so we weren't busy, so I let her help. I walked around for about two hours with a three year old on my hip, doing everything I would have done anyway. The girls parents thought it was wonderful and the kid just LOVED me. It was very very sweet.

Of course I do!! I also have a folder full of notes and other drawings tables have left me when I was a waitress at a diffrent resturaunt.

When I left, all of my regulars, besides leaving huge tips, wrote little notes to tell me that they were sorry to see me go and if I start to waitress anywhere else, to let them know so that they could go to that resturaunt instead.

I thought it was suspicious. I didn't think Wal*Mart had self checkouts... haha

awww, how cute. ^__^ I helped a girl find a Sailor Moon dvd one day when I worked at an electronics store. Her dad said "OK Suzie (I forget her name) what do we tell the nice lady?" The girl just latched herself to me with this huge hug (she was maybe...5 or 6) and said "Thhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnkkkkkkkkkkk yyyyyyyyyooooooouuuuuuuuuu." and then invited me to watch Sailor Moon with her. She was so adorable. Her dad was shocked, but laughed it off because I had helped her and was so knowledgeable.

Before I became a mother, I didn't really like children much, but that didn't stop children from wanting to sit in my lap, reach out for me to pick them up or want to hold my hand. Now that I am a mother, I find that other people's children still do this.

Animals seem to think I'm their best friend too, which leads to a lot of people walking their dog trying to wrestle their dog to keep them away from me. Now, I would normally tell the person it's fine and give the dog a quick pet, but my little guy is terrified of dogs, so I have to just walk on by while my little guy has an iron grip on my leg.

I'm highly allergic to cat dander, but that doesn't stop cats from wrapping themselves around my legs, purring and looking up at me wanting me to pet them. My husband's relatives put their cat up when I came over to visit and the darn thing snuck out and planted himself on my lap and didn't want to leave.

I had one in our old neighborhood that would wait outside where he could see our door and the minute I came out would come running over and wrap himself around my legs wanting to be petted. I told him to go home every time and never petted him, but he followed me everywhere till I went back inside and then he would go back to his spot where he could see the door. He looked well fed and cared for, but I have no idea when he went home, since every time I looked outside he was in his spot.

Kids have always loved me. I am everyone's favorite uncle.

Of course, being a magician, kids REALLY loved me when I was doing magic at the restaurant! It was cool, and some of the younger kids I goofed around with in various kidlike ways, but I always had to be careful that the parents were cool with it and I never left any room for anyone to be even vaguely suspicious. Because all it takes is one stray comment, and a reputation and a career go right down the toilet.

Now, while most of the kids, even the older ones, loved me (hello? magic? kids? hello!), there was one incident that I will never forget. It was my last Sunday day shift of magic before I went on vacation somewhere, and I had been performing around the restaurant, but had done an extensive set at one table with a cute six year or so old girl (who looked remarkably like that little girl that was in the Pepsi ads a while back). Near the end of my time at the restaurant that day, the girl and her family were leaving. I was strolling near the entrance, and saw the girl pushing the heavy door open to leave. She suddenly stopped, turned back, spied me.....and ran over to me and wrapped my leg in a huge hug with the biggest smile on her face! She was beaming! Her parents laughed, and I was just warmed to the bone.

If all kids were like that, I wouldn't wish so much destruction on so many of them.
