Guest: Dave, we had a contract for a specific property and you people told us it left the program and you offered us one that you said was comparable but it's not

Me: ok I have another one you can look at

He goes and looks at it and calls 45 minutes later

Guest: Dave, this condo still isnt acceptable....I am not happy here. We cant stay in this most hideous place. I mean this place is just plain ugly. What the hell is wrong with you to even think it would be suitable for us?

Me: it is listed as a 4 star

Guest: it is not even close to a 4 star, I need something else

Me: we have one other place you can look at

He goes and looks at it and calls back

    Guest: Dave, it's unacceptable.

    Me: whats wrong with it?

Guest: I dont like it, thats whats wrong with it.....I am the customer and I am not staying somewhere I dont like to suit you.

Me: well sir I have nothing else to offer you. I can refund your money

Guest: no no, youre not getting out of this that easy. Youre gonna find me something suitable

    Me: I have nothing else

Guest: I see all these nice places on your site, what about this property?

    Me: it's occupied

    Guest: so kick them out

    Me: I cant

Guest: why not? You had no problem kicking me out of the property I rented

Me: sir I am not making someone leave in the middle of their stay

Guest: but its ok to do it to me?

    Me: I never said that

Guest: Dave, I am livid. I am coming down there and I would suggest you have the cops there when I get to the office

    CLICK

I'll let you know how this turns out when I hear from the check in desk

Dave, I suggest that you do what he says. After all, the customer's always right, right?

The running thread I seem to be noticing with VR's customers is a tremendous lack of understanding of how this system works.

VR's company does not own these properties. What it is is a rental pool... owners of properties who would like to rent them out to vacationers join a 'rental pool', which means they sign up with a company that takes these properties, grades them, advertises them and basically manages the entire rental process.

This is NOT a resort. VR's company does not own these properties, or even hold the lease on them... they are a middleman arranging a contract between the property owner and the vacationer. So when VR's customers ask for a discount, they are demanding VR do something his company literally cannot agree to without getting the agreement of the owner, or paying the owner out-of-pocket. They cannot let you stay at the property for a deep discoutn or free, because it's not their decision.

Likewise, aside from evaluating the properties and sending cleaning staff to clean them, his company has very little control over the quality and amenities. If there are a lot of complaints, they can downgrade the star rating, but otherwise there's not much they can do.

Personally, I like this sort of system. It can be a bit of a crapshoot, but it's better than staying in a little clone cottage that's identical to every other clone cottage in a highly organized little plot of land.

So I'm always amazed at how many of these people go into this system completely uaware of how this all works.

I'm MORE amazed at how much VR's boss caters to these jerks... all those discounts they give must REALLY piss off the owners, too.

I love how most of VRS' customers make it a point to declare their emotional states.

"Dave, I am not very happy."
              "Dave, I am very upset."
              "Dave, I am livid."
              "Dave, I am angry." etc....
              I don't like your attitude!
Yeah? Well you're not EATING my attitude!

So, he hadn't actually started his vacation yet...he was still trying to get a property...how did you kick him out in the middle of his vacation? Some logic.

Merged the original and the update threads so that people in the future would know what you're talking about. For the second time, I ask you, if you have an update, do NOT start a new thread, make a post in the old one.

I still don't get it. WHY do you care what the room looks like that much? I have stayed in some nice places and I have stayed in some places where you can hear the mice humping in the walls. I was at the beach, WHO CARES! Oh.. wait... VRS's customers care.

Getting mad makes you look and act stupid. YVRS's company needs to upgrade the phone system and security system. Then they should record and save when people fly off the handle. A month later send them a tape, with a little post it attached that says "This is how you look to others."

Thorzine milk shake or Prozac Patte' or Valium Pudding anyone?
"Wow, that has to be the best genital analogy EVER. "

I am actually ok with the full refund. The contract wasn't fulfilled due to circumstances beyond VRS Corp's control.

                              Suing for breach of contract?

Every job contract has that clause that translates into ":And whatever else we can think of for you to do" as well as "At Will". I'm betting the rental contract says "Subject to change with little to no notice" as well as "At Will". Circumstances did change, and Mr. Maturity willed not.
