That's not really Circuit City's fault, though. As much as I disliked their store, you can't pin the blame for that on them; they just turned the stores over to a dedicated liquidation company, who ran the stores until they closed.

Never said it was. It's just one of the most recent examples.

Although I'm pretty sure Circuit City chooses which liquidation company to use.

The program made it pretty clear that this was absolutely a separate company.

I wonder how many cigs you would sell if you posted a price three times the normal with a 66% off sale going on... permanently.

I've got I$ on that you would sell more
I'm a smoker and that wouldn't work one little bit on me, but where I live the cost is more in the "sin" tax than the price of the pack itself. Most smokers I know go to the casino to get them tax-free.

I'd also like to point out that the reason people freak out when you don't have their brand is because they are addicted to the particular chemical "signature" in that brand - smoking anything else doesn't quite work. I for one don't complain since there really isn't a point, however if I do buy a brand that is not my own I do know for a fact that I will smoke more of them since my body won't be satisfied with the chemicals from them.
Wonder what is going to happen now that the companies have to take some of those chemicals out - I do miss the "quick burn" one in the paper already.

On the other hand, how many liquidation companies are there that are of the size and have the experience/infrastructure to handle something like that?

I honestly don't know the answer, but my guess is "not many". I mean, CC wasn't exactly some small "mom and pop" operation with only one or two stores in one corner of a state.
