  • what the hell is local pizza?

Guest: Dave, I am very angry and you better let me vent before you say one word....I have called four times for concierge service. Every time I call, they tell me you dont have a concierge any longer and nobody can recommend a pizza place. They keep giving me the number to Pizza Hut. PIZZA HUT....if I wanted to order from Pizza Hut, I would have stayed in Pensylvania. I cant believe I travel all this way and you suggest I order from Pizza Hut. All I want is some good local pizza. Why is it so hard to get answers, Dave?

Me: well let me see what I can find

Guest: see what you can find? So you're going to direct me to a place you know nothing about?

Me: well I always order from Papa John's myself

Guest: so it's my vacation and I cant get answers? We are hungry here and we just want fresh local pizza. What is wrong with you? I am simplyn asking for suggestions here.

Me: ok and I am going to give you suggestions

Guest: but it's not....I can go on the internet and look something up. Oh my God, just forget it. You know this has been a horrible vacation. I had to wait in line for 20 minutes to check in and now I cant get anyone to tell me about local pizza. May I speak to a manager?

the bitch asked for money back and the damn manager gave her $200

Wow. Bitch. I wonder if local pizza was the only reason she was on vacation; if so, she should have researched her location better! Hee, should have told her the pizza hut pizza IS local, as it is located here and not in PA! Can't believe these people get money back for crap like this!

I can understand the idea for wanting local food, but I would think asking for gourmet pizza would get the point across better. Just because a place is local it doesn't mean its good.

Rather a polite request considering the rest of the diatribe delivered. Quite the bizarre turn.

In a place near the ocean, I usually go out in search of good seafood, not good pizza.

Wait the EW waited twenty whole mins for check in? Poor baby. That idiot. If I ever went on vacation anywhere I'd have researched the place MYSELF beforehand! Besides what if you were lactose intolerant and couldn't have pizza so you wouldn't know a good place right? And good god, it's PIZZA. I can't believe she got her money back. What a spoiled cow.

Man, the shit you put up with... Are there ever any nice customers?

Just....what everyone else said! I sometimes want to feel you make this stuff up. I think it would be very entertaining to sit with you all day listening to your phonecalls. Wow.

I wonder what that lady would think of my answer. I eat pizza so rarely that the last time I ordered one for delivery the lady @ Pizza Hut had to walk me through the process. My answer would be that *I* couldn't recommend anyone.

So... do you have a concierge service? I'm sure you can build one and staff it between one of his calls.

Excuse me while I run far away.

                  THEN FUCKING DO IT.

I can understand this notion of wanting to try out the local cuisine. On vacation last month, we stayed away from the chain places as much as possible. We try to do this as much as possible. On our first night, in Butte MT, we ate at this kick-ass local pizza place with a buffet. Great food, lots of it, reasonably priced, and the place "had character", as my dad put it. There was a carousel down the hall, FFS. That it happened to be kitty-corner from our hotel was a bonus.

We did ask some hotel people if they could recommend places for us to eat at. Not once did we flip out when one of the suggestions was a chain place. Sometimes, the local mom-and-pop places are really raunchy joints, places where you'd swear the chef is named Barth Bagge, and we've eaten in a few of them. It's just the chance you take.

It's amazing how little it takes to ruin some people's vacations.

Suggestion VRS(won't work for all, but wth). When they get pissy with you that way, ask if they have an Amex Platinum or Centurion (black) card. If they say yes, tell them that those Amex concierges can find just the best places anywhere in the world for them. AND it won't cost them a cent. they can call the free number on the back of the card. (best part? It's true! I used to be one of those concierges. Can't talk about it for a couple more years)

That's one of the best parts about going to the beach . . . the local seafood places. Some aren't so hot but then there are those who are . . .

It didn't matter if it was pizza, poor weather, or if she had to walk aaaaallll the way to another room for the bathroom. This woman just wanted to vent and to get something for it. I won't be surprised if (or should I say when) she calls back later to complain about even more "horrible" experiences for an even deeper discount. The bed is crooked, a door creaks. I mean, $200 discount for pizza!! Clearly I'm not complaining properly

I hate to say it, but I am not a big seafood person at all.

Years ago, we used to get fish lunches from some restaurant in town Fridays. Seeing the little bone-marks in my piece of fish put me right off of seafood.

My seafood has to be breaded and deep-fried for me to even consider it.

My mom and brother are both the same way . . . while I'll try anything once.

And Mom can't figure out where I got that from . . .
