You should have yelled "stop stealing from the donations!"
She probably would have indignantly shouted that she wasn't stealing. That's what my ex would do after I found out she had helped herself to my ATM card and stolen some of my money. She'd say, "I didn't steal it!" I pointed out that she had taken it without my permission, which by definition is stealing.

I guess stealing is what other people do.

Me: I hope she doesn't ever have to rely on my puny muffins/donations to save her life someday.
I hope she does! And I hope she works the bake sale and gets yelled at by other EW's.
wouldn't lube work better in a f***ing machine?

Yes, that’s right. It’s a pair of gold foil headphones. Gold foil. Finally, headphones just as awful as your taste in music.

My response to my kids when they start that whiny "everything isn't exactly the same" crap...?

"Suck it up buttercup, life isn't fair."

That may have been my response to the charity thief as well.

Just another example of SCs today...if something is inconvenient or upsets you, then someone else must be to blame.

Honestly, I hope Karma bites back big time. What a useless and terrible parent.
A lion however, will only devour your corpse, whereas an SC is not sated until they have destroyed your soul. (Quote per infinitemonkies)

This mom came up and got one of the muffin baggies for her kiddies, and donated 50 cents....*puts hand in bowl and takes a DOLLAR! and leaves*
SM: That will teach her to tell me I can't have what I want.
So, basically she got the muffins and an extra 50¢?! Damned thief. And what kind of lesson is she teaching her Darling Precious Angels?!

This just makes me all sorts of mad. Stealing from a charity is the lowest of the low. Here's your Karma, bitch!

...Hey it could be worse though, some people will leave 1 penny because its "donations" and they are allowed to donate whatever they want. There are cheapskates out there who will do that. Why don't they set a minimum price like 25 cents or something? That way people can't rip you off. I hope her and those stupid kids choke on those muffins.
I have been in the opposite position. At a school fete where I was representing my Scout group their was a cake stand. I asked how much they were and was told "these are 5p, these are smaller so 2 for 5p" I took a few cakes and gave them £1 and told them they should charge more. 5p for 2 cupcakes is crazy!

A valuable early life lesson for kids could be:
                    "Life's not fair...deal with it"
"Or, you're not always going to get your way"

                    But no....she had to steal.

Hearing about your ex from time to time, she's GOT to be related to MY ex.

Could be possible. Her family's not too far from where you live, in SE Ohio.

Isn't that blatant theft? I would have started yelling at the top of my lungs "MA'AM IF YOU COULD PUT BACK THE MONEY YOU JUST STOLE FROM [charity] WE WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT" and watch the looks she got from other people.

That's what I would do. Make sure everyone around heard me. If she tried to claim she was just "taking her money back" I would point out she put in 50c and took $1 and that is theft. I'm sure she wouldn't be able to get out of there with that buck I guarantee

Charity always brings out the worst in people. You get plenty of cheap bastards who, upon donating *anything* feel they're entitled to more than they should be.

For example, at my church's "white elephant sale," there's always one cheap bastard who whines about the 25-cent price on the paperbacks. Usually, he's told to "open yer wallet, you cheap bastard" by other patrons, including myself

Seriously though, years ago, I found a trio of 1/8 scale models. Someone had built them, and for one reason or another...no longer wanted them. Not sure why, since 1/8 scale sports cars are usually expensive! Anyway, I couldn't believe that the church was only asking about $3.00 total, and tried to give more, but they wouldn't take it.

Not surprising at all. My mum belongs to a church that always does a fete in the summer, and sometimes does white elephant sales and stuff... and they have to have tons of volunteers manning the stalls due to revolting individuals who feel their day can't go by without stealing! From a flipping church fete!

I'm an atheist, but I can't help but hope a bolt of lightning hits people who feel it's alright to steal from charities or churches like that.
People who don't like cats were probably mice in an earlier life.
